Well actually the only way to backup trophies is if you have PSN Access you can press TRIANGLE on it and press "Sync with Server" and that's the only way

It's either that or replace your laser (easy enough job) but you still gonna be waiting on the part ariving and that will come out of your pocket.

It is most likely harmless and is probably some kind of OFW... it has potential to harm your PS3 though... Don't install it and wait for a real method of installing CFW to your PS3...
