When i hook the ps3 to the tv with an hdmi cable i get no image.

In my experience the console auto-detects whatever kind of cable you use but not this time.
I swapped with different cables but that made no difference so i think i can rule out a cable problem.

NExt thing i did was holding the reset button for 5-6 seconds when turning it on so the system goes back to default screen settings but it gave me nothing but a black screen...
But when i connect an original SCART cable that came with the ps3 i got my image back again. Strange isn't it?

When the scart is connected and i connect the hdmi cable i get a message from the ps3 that says '' A HDMI device is detected , would you like to swith to that? '' YES of course want that...! But when i do that the screen goes black for a while and i still get no image. Very weird because the it seems the console recognize the cable+tv... Can someone help me?

turn off your tv from the wall for 60 -120 seconds
plug hdmi into ps3 and tv
turn tv back on
put tv onto the correct hdmi channel
turn on ps3
you should get the hdmi found do you want to use these settings message
if not turn your tv onto the other hdmi channel if you have more than one
you should get the above message now (unless it timed out)

have you tried the ps3 on another tv?
or try switching manually to hdmi, and don't check the 1080p box..

yes, 3 TVs and 3 HDMI cabels. When I want to set this manually than in display settings I choose HDMI and it asks me to change and i hit ok. Then I switch my TV to HDMI and all I get is black screen so I cant check resolution.

It doesn't auto detect, if you had it set up with hdmi and then turn the console off and hook up av cables you will be faced with a not so pretty black screen.

Beyond resetting the graphics settings as suggested and switching cables there isn't a lot else to suggest.

I haven't come across to many people mentioning bad HDMI ports though.

Have you tried this: (it was a long time ago so memory is a bit hazy)

Have both av and hdmi cables connected but choose your tv's av chanel. Go to hdmi settings on your ps3. I think you can manually set up hdmi so choose this - now make sure 540, 720 are ticked for now leave 1080 I & p blank ( you can change this later). Save hdmi settings. Now change over to your tv's hdmi channel.

As I said this was quite a while ago so some of this could be wrong, but it's worth a try

thanks but its not helping. :O somehow now it works but there is another problem When I choose 1080p all I get is a black sreen and when I choose 1080i then every 5-15 seconds screen blinks. Now Im really confused

Try a new HDMI cable.
