well i got retro arch latest version....i changed cores to the games i wanted and it doesn't work....only thing that worked was the snes core.....i know i am doing something wrong....i am storing all my roms on my external drive. For example i want to play street fighter third strike...i got the mame rom.. and that game doesn't work....someone please help or send me to a thread that explains this already..

ive checked youtube and ive seen some guys play alot of arcade (mame) roms on the ps3.... so i know its possible its just that i am doing something wrong.....or do the roms have to be in a different format to play?

Im not entirely sure but those street fighter games are most likely running on fba next emulator and not mame.

Back in the days I played a lot of the street fighters using DNA on 3.55 and I remember couldn't get Ford third strike working

@HulkWogan is right, use Final Burn Alpha to play SFIII Third Strike. Tried with the standalone release from Retroarch and the game worked fine.

To make it work I mixed two different roms: the parent rom - sfiii3.zip (75,3 MB) - and the U.S. localized files - sfiii3ur1.zip (7,98 MB).

I tried with both zips in the same folder, but for some weird reason the emulator says that some files are missing. Merging the two zip files solved the problem for me.

If you use winrar: Extract the sfiii3ur1.zip and drag the extracted files

sfiii3_usa.29f400.u2
sfiii3 (__990512)-simm1.3
sfiii3 (__990512)-simm1.2
sfiii3 (__990512)-simm1.1
sfiii3 (__990512)-simm1.0

into the sfiii3.zip to merge the files. The emulator will load and run the game without problems.

Best possible would be the MAME project for PS3. It works great but has memory limitations. For example samurai showdown 1 & 2 play great, but 3 and on require more memory than the current project can handle on the PS3. Large games like metal slug and mortal kombat 4 will either not load due to lack of memory or will have an abominable frame rate.

Besides needing the bios files, you also need all the .bin files that make up the games.

For the 2 exceptions of running out of memory and hunting down the games that will work I find the MAME project to be the best arcade emulator for PS3.

Sadly I just get cant load roms folder or something similar with mame. is there a thread that covers setting it up?
