After you choose the game in multiMAN, it takes you back to the XMB. Then choose the game from App/Home icon.

Delete any game data, from the game data utility. Go into multiman, highlight MW3 and press square. Make sure nothing is checked in the bottom left, except either external or internal, depending where you have the game. Choose update. It will download a package file. Go install the package file, then boot the game.

Not all games will play discless, is correct. But MW3 does play discless.

That is a very good guide to get all games working discless.
