you can take it out after the downgrade.

Your PS3 wont factory revert back to its original FW. It will just reset any settings on the latest FW you have on it, in this case 3.70.
progskeet only
also there are alot of reports that the new progskeet1.2 is having problems writing to the ps3

thats more expensive then i tought ^^.
so just to be sure here i need a progskeet v1.2 Full kit (progskeetv1.2 + injectus ), A dongle, and a compatible USB stick, and some worktools. am i forgetting something?
maybe the NAND clip (360-clip) to connect the injectus with the progskeet idk?
no the progskeet will work on all ps3's that can be downgraded
so thats all phat ps3's and most of the slims

just see the first part of my guide.

and all the flashers are re-usable after a downgrade.

get the full kit (prog + slave board + injectus)

1x dev board or (psp ipod etc) for fsm (see the first post of my guide)

1x 360clip (nand)

1x adaptor board

(the prog 1.2 is supposed to have qsb's for the NAND but they are still not out yet so use the clip and adaptor board)

but as i have said. i have had reports that the prog 1.2 has some issues with writing back. this may be a clip issue but there is an issue)

if you can find a prog 1.1 then but it
try e-bay under dev boards i have seen them there now and again

I took a quick look on ebay but most are more expensive then the shop, the problem with the writing to the ps3, would you say that happens alot? and have they succeeded despite this problem?

anyway, I hope i got the right stuff now:

get the full kit (prog + slave board + injectus): prog + slave board + adapter board(pcb)? Injectus

1x dev board or (psp ipod etc) for fsm (Eg. the dongle?) any advisements for a good dongle?

1x 360clip (nand)

1x adaptor board (is already packed in the progskeetv1.2 kit?)

(the prog 1.2 is supposed to have qsb's for the NAND but they are still not out yet so use the clip and adaptor board)
- cant really find the adaptor board, is it the one that comes with the prog 1.2 package?

EDIT:
Before i get started, are there some things i should consider, fe: a backup of the original state of the dumps and bios? so that i can unbrick my console incase of a brick?

EDIT2:
I just saw this announcement for the rogero CFW4.30, it states that its not needed anymore to downgrade before installing this cfw.
I can't find any details on how to install it but before you can install do you already have to be on a CFW?
I'm guessing this is not an option for me becous i'm not on any CFW yet

dont forget the adaptor board

and e-bay may appear expensive but if your uk then you still have duty and import tax to pay when you buy it from an online shop

and thats not cheep

you do a backup (its the dump you create) then you get it verified. if its good you save this backup once you have finnished.

forget rogero the no need to downgrade is about changing cfw's
if you was on rogero 4.21 and wanted to go to rogero 4.21 v 2 (example) then you first had to downgrade to 3.55 then re-update to 4.21 v 2

it is not about downgrading from 3.56+ ofw to cfw

- Yeah kinda figured, just wanted to be sure.

- I dont know what the adapter board is :s.

1 other thing, I cant find the use for the dongle in the NAND guide, where and for what is it used?

I appologize if these questions sound dumb but i'd like to know what i'm gonna have to do before i do it so that i dont come to stand for any unwanted surprises.

its after you have wrote the flash back to the ps3
the downgrade in fsm
you put the dongle in to activate the fsm (5-10 seconds and then its not used again)

oh right yes, thanks .

i'm pretty sure i found the adaptor board to now, its this one right: http://www.shop.01media.com/info.asp?ProductID=38810
but when i check the information of the progskeet v1.2 it sais it includes this
The kit include:
1x PROGSKEET 1.2 + SLAVE BOARD
1x PROGSKEET ADAPTOR PCB BOARD
thats where my doubts come from, it sais its in the kit but i don't see the picture of the board in there (http://www.shop.01media.com/info.asp?ProductID=38884)

if anyone can confirm this then im ready to order the following:
- progskeetV1.2 kit
- Injectus
- 360-NAND clip
- ProgSkeet dual adaptor PCB kit, with FCC cables (if not already in the kit)
- and the dongle

This method doesnt work for fw3.70?:

1.Make sure the PS3 is turned off,
2.Press and hold the power button on the PS3 it will power on then power off.
3.When it's off press and hold the power button again until you hear two consecutive beeps.
4.It will ask for the controller to be connected via the USB cable,
5.Turn on the controller and you will have access to the menu.

If this way is not possible anymore for entering service mode on fw3.7 or higher, is it possible to download the contents of a dongle and put it myself on a FAT32 usb so that i dont have to buy it?

That's to get to the recovery menu, not factory/service mode.

A usb flash drive will NOT work for FSM.
