This is an old thread but I thought that I would share. Back in 2001 (I was like 11 /12), my PS2 had that infamous disc read error on colored CDs (apparently that was from turning off the PS2 with the back switch instead of holding the power button). The first time I took the PS2 apart and cleaned the lens of the DVD drive. Later down the road, I completely took it apart because of the problem (and because I was bored) and couldn't figure how to put everything back together. Mind you, these were the dial up days without I fixit (at least I didn't know about it back then).

I think that only a few (older) people will understand this because the MSX systems was basically unknown outside Japan, Brazil and some Europe regions...

I copied a japanese MSX Megaram cartridge using some pens and iron perchlorate to create the circuit board and after that I disabled the ROM chip from a Konami game "Salamander" to use the cartridge as a SCC sound chip for my pirated konami games. Both cartridges worked fine, but the first try killed my MSX xD

I also exploded a 110V NES clone using a 220v outlet, but I think that stupidity does not count as tech activity...

I duct taped a battery to my wiener and spun in circles hoping it would charge...
