I'm new to CFW installations.

I've done my research, chosen my hardware flasher (E3 limited), checked4compatibility with my console and read a plethora of guides on CFW installation and Un-bricking.

1)I want to know if checking the MD5 hash of a CFW .pup file is a worthwhile exercise?

(I have never done this for any file let alone .pup files-using MD5 hash checker utillity v2.31)

1)Where do i get a genuine md5 hash to compare with file on hand?

3)Can pple generate false MD5 on a .pup file to trick ppl?

I want to know i am using CFW that is tried and tested and exactly what creator made initially not tampered with, don't wanna brick my ps3 because of an incorrectly labeled file (with malicious intent-does this happen?)

have downloaded many different CFW and not sure if they are to be trusted as many of them came from torrent sites and YouTube videos and random links

Yes, you should ALWAYS check the MD5 of a PUP before installing it.

You can find the correct MD5 hashes on trusted sites such as this one by using the search or even by using Google and using the term "insert CFW here MD5".

No, no one can falsify a MD5 unless you just take their word for it and don't check the MD5 yourself.
