hey guys is it true that if I had a flasher I could flash a cfw on a 3k model? saw it on ps3 news so I thaught id ask here

no I heard on ps3 news if your on ofw 4.31 you can use a flasher and the some files you can downgrade from 4,31 to cfw 4.30 http://www.*******.com/ps3-cfw-mfw/v...flasher-guide/ read here!

It's wrong.

3k cannot have CFW put on it.

Ironically technodon confirmed this:

i had another go at putting a custom firmware onto a newer 3000x series console this is what i learned. sony added a 2kb file called lv0.2 inside CORE_OS_PACKAGE.pkg in newer firmwares 3.60+ and it is checked by metldr.2 which is what new consoles have. this prevents downgrades and verifies the integrity of lv0. until we can decrypt and resign lv0.2 flashing different coreOS onto the console is not going to work!

As long as the console is PRE metldr 0.2 you can install CFW with a flasher if its +3.60 minvercheck.
(most slims, but not late models, and definitely not 3k or 4k series)
