I think he's saying that his Blu-ray drive will not accept a disc when he tries to insert one and he gets a black screen when trying to load a game from multiMan, and there is no blue LED on the eject button on the console.

I have the same problem, the drive is ****ed.

No it's a slim.

I took it to a repair shop and the guy told me it needs an entirely new drive.

I was gutted, I sent it off to get downgraded from someone offering the service on here, came back with the drive broken.

i was thinking maybe he has had it downgraded but not put the ffc cables back propperly
esp if its the newer ps3 with the laser ffc under the drive (thats a pain to put back on if you have big fingers)

and one of his posts says the blue light is on
so that comfirms to me that its probably that ffc that isnt in propperly.

but no pics / vid to help us makes this harder.

even english speaking users allways forget to mention something that ends up being the key to the problem.

A lot of games I can yes, but a lot of very good ones I cannot. Such as Spec Ops & Dishonored.

I'm praying GTA V will work discless, as that is one of the last major games I HAVE to play before the next-gen (Battlefield 4 being the other). After that I'll be glad to cut my losses this gen and start a fresh with either a PS4 or 720. I'm no longer biased towards choosing a Sony console, Sony have done too much stupid **** this generation for me to blindly buy their next console.

I'll be factoring in price & release date as the most important factors in my purchase.

and in o/p as you quoted he said "no laser activity"

so the mechanism works
the blue eject light comes on
just not trying to read

so my best guess is that hard to get to ffc under the drive is not connected or not correctly seated.
