2501a Battery holder broke off. Fixable?
So I bought this 2501a slim and knew that it would power instantly off when powered on. I didn't expect to find what you see pictured below.
Basically, it looks like to me, that someone, somehow, managed to break the battery holder off the motherboard. The motherboard has 2 deep "cuts" in it where it used to be. One looks to have disrupted a trace or two. Is this fixable? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

buy a new holder and solder it on the board
it's totaly doable otherwise get a 2x aaa holder solder some wires to the board and use that as battery holder but seeing ****loads of people still bricking their ps3's someone might send you a desoldered one from their dead ps3 about the trace carefully scratch both sides and use some solder to connect it again also a very easy doable fix where do you live? |

I guess my real question should have been, how do I fix these traces? I have done a few trace fixes on xbox 360's but never a ps3. The 360's traces are raised, where as the ps3 seems to be "in" the board. I used my fiberglass pen and all that i was doing was scrapping of the film around the traces as the traces are "indented" into the board. Thanks. |

you could try warming the coating on the trace with your soldering iron first. it may make the coating slightly softer and then easer to scratch the coating off i wouldnt worry about a battery just yet. just see if it boots after the track is fixed first if it does then look for a batt |

Alright, thanks for the advice guys.
Problem now is, I left the power/eject board at work and I won't be back there until monday lol. And the one in my 2101a is different. Oh well. As soon as I get it, I will give it a go. |

Will do.
If this thing does boot, I'm going to be so mad at myself. I've had this ps3 for a long time. The problem was I was over thinking this the whole time. After my second post, the light bulb went off and i realized i could have done this a long time ago lol. I've spent way too much time around xbox 360's lol. |
