Then I kept reading and I stopped laughing.
What do they mean by "it was removed in 4.30"?
Do they mean that the dependencies Cobra relied on in the firmware were removed or something else?

My guess is they could get the 2.60 ps2_softemu.self working on 3.55, but they can't get it working on 4.30.

Anyone who bought a cobra to play ps2 games on their non BC PS3 is very likely to have been disappointed with the compatibility and performance, so it's not a huge loss.

Sony got rid of there code after 3.60 if I am not mistaken I remember reading something like that on this sight Sony need more $ so they got rid of it or didn't want to look like fools because cobra got Ps3 games working on non backwards compatible Ps3,s
