I bought mine too from there althought the seller told me that they are legit.
It was a lie. When the contoller arrived ,the thumbstick made some noise.
After I switched from 3.55CFW to rogero 4.30 CFW they didnt work anymore because I couldnt connect them. Only way to play with them was to connect via USB cable.
PS: Sony made after FW 3.50 a security build in which doesnt let the fake controller connected to the ps3.Thats why mine never connects!

Look on the front of the controller. Above Select and Start should be the name Sony. The PS button should be exactly the same. Now flip to the back. The serial label should have Sony and other warning labels on the back. Near the LED's, should be in *Blue* SIXAXIS and/or DUALSHOCK3. If you take the back off, it will have Toshiba Parts.

Haven't yet bought the PowerA controller but thinking of selling my PS3 DualShock 3 controller for it and for the games. Don't really want to spend too much money or any on PlayStation 3 unnecessarily.

If you look on ebay and search 'genuine dual shock 3', then click cheapest price incl. P&P you will actually find people trying to sell fakes as genuine.

If you bought from China/Hong Kong via ebay I would say it is 90% likely you have a fake.

They are treacherous bastards on there, specifically regarding PS3 controllers as it happens lol.

Genuine controllers have 5 screws on the back, fake ones have a 6th screw hiding under the sticker on the back!

a friend bought a ps3 super slim, and his controllers looks normal but feels lighters and smaller, dont know why... both are originals (they comes in the ps3 box), maybe is jus a new model

I bought a silver controller advertised as a genuine Sony from eBay and it turned out to be fake. eBay sent me a message and the seller had to refund my money. I could tell the controller was different from the moment I opened the package. I got lucky that eBay caught it and got my entire purchase price close to $45 back. Needless to say, I don't purchase controllers from eBay anymore.

ive had a fake controller before, another way to tell if its fake is move the left or right anologue stick into any corner, now try and press down on it L3/R3, does it click easy or hard to click? genuine controllers will click easy, fake one will be hard to press down in this position...
also the L1 L2/ R1 R2 triggers have a really weak spring back feel on fake controllers..
