ps3 unbricking problem (can't enter fsm, no video output)
So I was trying to unbrick my ps3 slim using a valid backup. The ps3 kept turning off so I soldered a wire from SBE to nor tristate and that kept it from shutting down. Next I proceeded to flash a patched dump in flash fun mode (10000000) and once that completed, I changed the e3 flasher setting to (00000001) and flashed the downgrade.bin file. Everything completes without any errors so I manually shutdown the system and pull the power. The problem starts when I try to put the system into FSM with my e3 card reader, instead of automatically shutting down, it just hangs there. I know there is power going to the USB ports because the led on the thumbdrive is flashing. I've tried this process multiple times but there was one time where I was able to successfully flash patched backup, flash downgrade.bin, enter FSM, flash rogero 3.7 pup, and exit FSM (system automatically shuts down) but when I power the system back up, I get all the symptoms of glod...
Here is where everything gets even more confusing... After several more tries at unbricking, I was finally able to get the system to boot into xmb, dehash, install rebug 4.21, multiman, etc... Rebooted the system several times and everything was perfectly fine. I have removed the SBE to tristate wire and e3 flasher at this point. Since everything was working fine, I shut it down and put everything back together. Press the power button and again no video output, controllers won't sync, limited hdd activity. Its as if the system is stuck in tristate mode. So next I take everything apart again but this time I only attach the heatsink clamps, psu, bluray and for some reason everything is back to normal...Upon further diagnosing, I found that putting pressure near the top half (gpu area) of the motherboard while the system is on causes the system to hang with artefacts on the screen. This problem has now escalated to the point where again there is no video output, solid green light, limited hdd activity, etc... even with the system semi assembled. Sorry for the long post as I am tired and confused as hell at this point... If anyone can shed some light on this problem that would be greatly appreciated. Only idea I got is: Do you have it in the right display settings? Like did you go into recovery mode for the display? If not that you must of damaged a display wire or something

![]() 3 guesses what the problem is ![]() its the gpu the gpu comes on and needs to be on before bluetooth , wifi , usb and hdmi you have said you have had a long term problem with hdmi not working for you thats the first clue the gpu is on its way out. next you said when you put it on while its not in its housing it works but in its casing nothing not even CONTROLLER (this is bluray and usb) second clue its a cpu on its way out. you say when you put light pressure on the gpu area it gives artifacts this is the 3rd clue its the gpu so you need to send it for a re-ball for the gpu and a re-paste under the cpu & gpu internal heat shilds. i hope that helps you

thanks for the reply guys. I guess the gpu is toast... right now all I get is solid green light, black screen, and the hdd led flashes for a few secs but that's it. would the gpu problem also cause the system to not be able to enter FSM? even though I am able to successfully flash my backup and do the downgrade with no errors?

so I'm suppose to just flash the unpatched backup and than do the regular downgrade steps? I have tried both ways so far and the result is always a solid green light and no video output.
