Ok since lot people brick PS3 when they try to downgrade I will try to help anyone who have same problem.

So first if you brick your PS3 dont open new thread "I brick PS3, please help" just post your problem here.

Let's start.

1. Make sure you have good valid dump from your PS3 before you even try to go on downgrade.

2. When you make your dump from PS3 please send it here http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=48432 so guys can check it.

3. Once you have good valid dump from your console please let me know if you brick your console and I will help you, via gmail, via facebook, or here on PS3 hax.

Just remeber you need to have good valid dump from your PS3 that is bricked.

Yes mate, he was on 3.55 CFW, he brick his PS3 when he was go on 4.30CFW.
When he power off his console he wasn't able to power on PS3.
He flash fun back his valid dump in PS3 but PS3 power on without picture, HDD, USB activity.

So I jump in to help him via PM, he add me on facebook and we start to fix problem.

First I ask him for good valid dump he made before he brick PS3, he told dump is valid, guys on ps3hax, e3 team also check it.

So we start to fix problem. I give him custom dump and told him he need to flash this dump on his PS3 (IF YOU DONT HAVE GOOD VALID DUMP FROM YOUR PS3 YOU WONT BE ABLE TO FLASH THIS DUMP!!!!!)

So before that he solder tristade to SBE and power on PS3 with 100000, PS3 was on.

Steps:

1. 1 down, 2 down, 3 up, 4 up, 5 up, 6 up, PS3 is power off, on SD card he put e3update.bin
2. PS3 power on, 8 led blue (e3 is updated)
3. Power off PS3.
4. Format SD, FAT 32, insert custom dump in
5. 1 up, 2 down, 3 down, 4 down, 5 down, 6 down
6. Power on PS3 without SD card in E3
7. Insert SD with custom dump, 2x stop, start (6-8 minutes take to flash dump)
8. Power off PS3
9. Format SD to FAT 32, insert GOOD VALID DUMP from his PS3
10. Power on PS3 without SD in E3
11. Insert SD, (Swithches stay's same) 2x stop, start
12. PS3 stays power ON
13. SD card is taken out, we copy E3_downgrade.bin on SD with his original dump he just flashed on PS3 (DUMP NEED BE PURE; CLEAR; WITHOUT ANY PATCH OR MODIFICATION)
14. We changed switches on E3 to: 1 down, 2 down, 3 down, 4 down, 5 down, 6 up
15. SD card insert in E3, 2x stop, start.
16. PS3 downgrade process take 12 minutes
17. He power off his console
18. He power on his console
19. On screen apear picture that says (Connect controller....)

And we fix it.

But I told him to connect his PS3 HDD in PS3 and E3 like on this picture, couse E3 flasher get's power via NOR chip on PS3 motherboard

"prohack's" custom e3 dump?..then unbrick ps3 with "Any" valid dump, so first his custom dump..then any valid dump from ur own ps3 over it, then usual e3_dowgrade.bin downgrade

i can recall trusted dev's posting that it cannot work? .... way back, seeing the topic/howto and mediafire is all up and running..it must work, never needed on my end...anyways it is a strange/great way it seems to fix this kinda brick

It work on my bricked PS3 in my case i didnt dehash, installed 3.55 ofw and brick, I repair with this up tutorial, and we repair yesterday another PS3. So it work at the end if you do the same steps as I do, I dont know maybea someone change something on that dump later or he upload wrong one but he send me the one that repair 2 PS3 so it work for sure

sure...i believe it..why not.....just posted because it "still" confuse me a little if u followed the topic back then when posted, whatever is edited in that custom dump i think prohack didn't tell, but it seems to work for many.....great solution if if works..and like always because 1 guy claims it cannot work, it infact does seem to work..many great minds there that's for sure

one thing tho... @noobzega , do we talk about same custom dump? because ur HOWTO is also with custom dump before using any valid from that particular PS3..thx for verify

@haz367 yep its pro custom dump he made and give it to me, it work 100%, Im not sure why someone told that not work.

This is 100% best solution so far.I fixed mine last night with noobzega help.Most of people know how to downgrade and how to flash with e3.But if u bricked follow this guide to unbrick.

altough verified many times by other users and because not removed it seems to work great..depends on type BRICK correct? not all bricks are identical and "Sometimes" it requires the dump where u bricked on e.g i had something going on with a previous Rebug 4.21.1, user error but anyway it not booted correctly and only way was restoring the dump i made(with a Teensy but it wont mather on that part!) and trying to use either a ofw dump of that console or a patched 355coreos one didn't work, also note here that the 00's and FF's percentages are way different as OFW/CFW355 dumps! maybe a reason why "only" a working Rebug 4.21.1 dump flashing back restored the PS3 properly as in other cases one can use for example an patched original made(the first one) dump or ofcourse a patched dump and getting the "connect ps3 controller"

and the guys telling back then it can't work, was maybe a misunderstanding between them that, ofcourse only the "Prohack" dump without having any valid dump of that ps3 isn't gonna work to unbrick...per console stuff..


either way nice work of Prohack with that cust dump...unbricking this sort of brick and u to @noobzega for helping others and refreshing us with the HOWTO using this dump+any valid one

btw.....i'm sure? it isn't recommended to use this way for any other/occasional/normal? brick type where u have to restore the NAND/NOR correct, only when no USB power/HDD activity? or something
