It all depends how you look at things honestly cfw is piracy that didn't cost anything n I have alota respect for the guys who gave every1 cfw. This is another form of piracy yes except at a cost n those who want it will buy it for there needs but on the other hand its no different than steam allowing us to back up our games to be installed later n hack n upload if we wanted

It's a bit different than the DRM dongle.
Generally speaking, any ODE device (not necessarily Cobra) can run your homebrew, you just have to make it running in a different form (selfs as game discs and not as npdrm self), This is possible because of the random fail discovery of F0F, so you can actually sign any homebrew with the 3.55(-) private keys.

But TBH, JuanNadie did mention that the 3k and 4k models have an exploitable bootldr.
Technically, it is also feasible to install cfw on those exploitable models, WITHOUT USING A HW .
But it's not an easy task, because you have to discover lv2+lv1 exploit on current ofw and then obtain your cellBE HW key.
With this, you can actually do whatever you wish to your console, decrypt & ecncrypt metldr and bootldr (you can actually change the boot order to the old revisions, as it works for cfw users today...and of course, a lot more).

Unless this can run Home Brew or run your game backups on OFW straight out of the box with a backup manager like MultiMAN or alike. I do not see any fun in using it ,only to save a PS3 BD drive from fail since they do break down from allot of use. Also unless this EMU can be used on a non downgradable OFW 356+ from factory. I see noting big about this really in my opinion except progress of a real working EMU that was talked about in the past & to actual see & have one working soon.

If you have to downgrade then CFW 430 is best to stay on no need to waste your cash on this & you get all the Home Brew you ever wanted + Play all the games you want on CFW 430. It would be foolish to update to OFW & lose what CFW has to offer in my opinion. I mean i JB my PS3 for everything not just to run a EMU = would be a Boring PS3 compared to CFW. I seen some comments on other forums i could not help to lol .I "Quote" (This is the best news of 2013) I do not think so. Playing ISOs on OFW is nice. Would be even worth it if you did not have to downgrade, but it is not that way. Playing on OFW + ISOs on PSN => Is a perfect example = Sony will add more restriction to games, that will screw us in the future. I am not trying to be lame, but it's true. Sony do not want people playing backups on PSN. I do not like Sony to be honest & do not care but it is reality.

I will always choose CFW over anything ,i can live just fine without PSN & Sony trying to log my activities everyday while on PSN. So in general CFW 4life. This does not solve nothing, besides playing ISO on OFW / PSN & attracting the wrong attention + save your BD drive which you can do on CFW anyways ,being you have to extract your key first ,so why not stay on CFW 430x?.
