The keys they are talking about are the drive keys, not anything to do with CFW. Only Sony can sign software to run on firmware released after failoverflow's exploit was disclosed.

The only option for 3000/4000 consoles is getting the per console boot key, but I don't believe that they are talking about extracting that.

Although it could be possible if they can somehow derive the drive key from intercepting the data transfer and there is a correlation between the drive key and the boot key. It's also possible that there is a correlation between the boot key, drive key & Ethernet MAC code.

I have woundered if you could take a ps3 with custom fw 4.30 and swap out the one with ofw 3K or 4K with memdump or multiman installed to get a dump. i dnt have a 3k or 4k model but was just a thought

I wasn't refuting to the drive key but if you have a data dump you may get some data that is needed for a cfw but as I said not sure if that would work. Another possibility wod be to use Ethernet
