i have some pics from the jsd-001 but to me all the fuses and TH parts are clearly marked.
from what somebody told me, it's unlikely that the TH parts will blow.
andi highly doubt this is your problem, i'm still leaning towards ylod because of overheating.

EDIT: did you tried booting without hdd and drive? and or fan?

I tried without hdd and blu ray but not fan will try soon, its come to the point where I may have to send to repair but unless we can find a definitive answer not sure anyone can especially after numerous google searches and all expertise on here.
Although i just remembered i still had the lens cable underneath connected to blu ray so I will take it completely out and I'll check ribbons too although they looked out I will do with multimeter

@JAGULAR1974 , the problem is, that i find lots of posts on google from people that are having this problem, but not really solutions, so for us it's still guessing what the problem is.

if it would be a ylod (broken solder points due to overheating), would adding a little pressure on the board on different spots, and trying to turn it on work?
besides the power/eject board nothing have to be connected for short tests i think.

if you only had some spare parts.

EDIT: btw. no beeps when it shuts down? , if so this would be an uncontrolled shutdown, unlike a normal ylod.

OK, maybe have a little breakthrough, I took apart the psu and checked the 2 big valve things, i think they are capacitors and 1 showed resistance ie 1 and the readout doesn't change and the other showed towards no resistance ie 500 ohms with the read out going up and down slightly does this seem right

No beeps with the shut down just standby light to green when pressed then off

maybe you can post some good pics from the psu and the parts you mean.

if this symptom is really an uncontrolled shutdown, then it have to be before the syscon ic (the ic that controls the boot process)

maybe a short drop in power can cause this.?

I would think it has to be a short somewhere.

I am working on one with the same problem. It is driving me crazy!!!

Grounding the tristate doesn't keep it on. So it has to be hardware, somewhere.
Changed the PSU.
Changed the power/eject board
Changed all cables.

The thing is I have a multimeter, but it is a crappy cheap one. I may have to invest in a good one, to get some accurate tests.

I think it may be that fuse, I have seen you talk about in a couple threads.
@Mr.Dutch
But I can't find that one thread that had the pics in it.

Well, I guess I keep searching. /rant

this is a dia-001 board, you probably have a newer one.

i also have a cheap meter (5 euro), works fine here.

your ps3 also shuts down without a light?

The board I have is the same as the OP's. jsd-001

Yes, it shuts down without a light.
I have seen this with some bricks and have fixed them. But this is no a software brick, it is hardware related.
I plug the PS3 in and get the red standby light.
Then I press power and the light goes to green, then quickly goes to no light and you can see the white light around the buttons for a sec, then nothing just dead.
I push the power button again and the red standby light comes back.

Something has to be shorting, I just wish I could find it.

most google results i found from this problem had a 25xx board, coinsedence?

i'm still leaning towards a problem before the syscon ic (the one that controls the startup)

on the fat one that ic is not protected with a fuse, all other power lines are, a bad fuse would cause a normal ylod effect since the syscon ic remains power.

in your case all lights go off, i would say or there's a drop in the power line to that ic due to bad connections, and the ic sort of crashes afterwards because it's not properly reset.

the strange part is that pushing the power button brings the standby led back on.

this is just guessing...lol , this problem might be a pain in the ass.

EDIT: @playerkp420 , what is the history of the ps3, it just happened? or after a downgrade attempt.

syscon ic, with 2 points, the voltage should be stable and on at all times.
