Thanks for the info.
I've indeed read that 3.55 is not needed anymore, good news.

So i should be able to get a new ps3 slim CECH 25xx or CECH 30xx and still downgrade it to CFW?
Anyhow, is it possible to see if a PS3 slim 160GB has mtldr1 or mtldr2 before buying it?

Hmm only CECH 3004A models.
Not possible i guess?
your looking for CECH-25xx with date code 1A maximum for downgrading
any above this are either none downgrade able or you need a dump to see if it is mtldr1

1A Date Code is the Max Code which can be downgraded till Now.
1A : means 1st quarter of year 2011 (Jan, Feb, March 2011). and yes there is 1B which means 2nd Quarter 2011 (Apr, May, June of 2011)
0D means Fourth quarter of 2010
the max downgradable Date Code is 1A since it comes with minimum FW 3.50 or 3.56 which can be downgraded by E3 CFW 4.3.
later than that is mtldr.2

This table i think explain it too

Hi, i really need your help!
I have a ps3 with 4.30 ofw and a E3 Flasher, i got a valid dump of the flash, i patched it and i wrote it to the ps3... here comes the problem!

Something went wrong and my ps3 is now bricked (it shuts down after 1 second), i still have the original dump on the pc so i'm not in panic-mode yet :P

I soldered the Tristate to SBE on the E3's ribbon, i configured the E3 with the proper switches and powered the console stays on for about 60 seconds, that it beeps 3 times and everithing (power led included) shuts down

what the hell can i do?
i'm using samsung firmware, my console is a CHECH2504A, my motherboard model is JTP-001

It is always a good idea to have someone else check your dump. just a second eye.
it can not be overheating, wait till the ps3 cool down and see if it stay longer before it shut off.

i thought soldering the tristate to ground should halt the ps3 on bootup, so bricked or not it should stay on unless it's a hardware faillure....

but who am i.

i think the date codes represent a year divided into 4 quarters

ie first 3 months is 1A secont 3 months 1B (i carnt remember the other 2 but there not needed here)

so after the model number on the console there is a date code (1A) or (1B)
so if you have CECH-25xx (1A) then you can downgrade as it has mtldr1
if its CECH-25xx (1B) then its a really slim chance that its a mtldr1 console

from http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Valid...Bbootldr_sizes

CECH-25xx (JTP-001) with 3.56 from factory - datecode 1A (rare)
CECH-25xx (JSD-001) with 3.56 from factory - datecode 1B (common)
CECH-25xx (JTP-001) with 3.56 from factory - datecode 1B (common)

(these have a base firmware of 3.56 so will brick if you go to 3.55)

(RLOD+)poweroff @ downgrade 355
(3.56+ + spkg fix + signed 3.55 priv : should work) << is what it says in the wiki

and that means you can patch it as a 3.55 downgrade but you have to use rogero4.30v2 cfw (it has to be v2 or above)

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
CECH-25xx (JSD-001) with 3.60 from factory - datecode 1B
CECH-25xx (JTP-001) with 3.60 from factory - datecode [N.A.]
CECH-30xx (KTE-001) with 3.65 from factory - datecode [N.A.]

(these have a base of 3.60 so will also brick if you goto 3.55 as you can see there is a date code of (1B) in this list aswell as the list above)

"metldr.2"
(RLOD+)poweroff @ downgrade 355 << is what it says in the wiki

and this means no cfw of any sort
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

after typing this out i have realised i miss read this the first time.
i thought there was a 3.60 in the top list but i was wrong so this means you can use minvercheck and if it says 3.56 as a min f/w then you can go direct to rogero4.30v2 (just change the firmware in the fsm files to rogero4.30v2 to do this)
also no de-hashing needed just re-install rogero4.30v2 in xmb or recovery to fill ros0 folder

thanks to domelec for the direct downgrade info and playerkp420 about the ros0 folder info

plug in the fan
check all the heat pads are in-place if just 1 is missing it will over heat that chip and turn off (30 sec sounds about right for this) and if it was doing this while you were flashing then good chance it didnt flash everything.

so check the fan and heat pads
