Hello!

I read somewhere that I could rip an original game disc to my HD from within MultiMan. Will this work with any game, including the most recent games? Or are there some games too new for that to work?

BTW, I'm running Rogero 4.30.

Hmm...so I just tried ripping my original Dead Island: GOTY Edition to my external HD. Game doesn't work.

I remember a while back when I first messed with this stuff that there were a lot of games that simply wouldn't work on the external. Has that changed now? Is there something I could do to make it work, or is this one of a list of games that simply won't run from an external?

Do you have enough space? Games are like 10+ GB
Check that its being Powered, It is in FAT32 . All you should have to do is select copy to HDD (Or w/e) and it should do it.

Yeah, it's a FAT32 drive with plenty of space. In fact there's several games on there (from a year or so ago when I was on a 3.55 CFW) that run perfectly and always did. But as I say, back then I remember people keeping lists online of what would and wouldn't work from an external because it was very hit or miss. I wondered if that was still the case, but you guys make it sound as though it should pretty much always work nowadays?

There is now a list of maybe 20 gmaes that wont work cause of containing files 4+ gb size

most of those lists were compatibility issues with 3.55 which no longer exsist because cfw 4.30

try going into game settings and enabling bd-mirror setting, this will fix most games that have trouble

Games with 4gb+ files still work from external. When you copy the game from disc to external, multMAN will split any files, if needed. And they still work.

Right...and I have a few of those working already...in fact, you can see a little "SPLIT" icon next to the game title in those cases (at least on the default theme).

So the one thing I saw suggested here that I haven't tried is to enable the BD-mirroring....I'll go give that a try and report back what happens.

One other thing is to delete any game data, from the game data utility for the game that doesn't work. Then install the newest game update manually.
You can get the latest game update in package from multiman. Go to the game in MM, press square or triangle, and choose update with X. It will download the latest game update and you can go back to xmb and install from install package files.
