HDTV Help.

I Got a DYNEX 32 Inch HDTV For Christmas.
I hook everything Up PS3 - Component, AT&T Receiver - AV
Set up PS3 In 720p
Few days later I get an HDMI Cable and hook it up to my PS3, Choose Auto Fro Resolution, And to my surprise my TV Supports 1080p. I thought it weird but didn't complain.
About an hour ago while chatting to an ATT Customer servise Rep online from my commuter - Hooked up through the VGA ports, I hear a Pop and my screen turns black.
I turned it off and back on Unplugged it and tested inputs, But the backlight will not work.
Can someone tell me what the Fuq just happened.

Inverter died maybe. Fortunately you can get it replaced under warranty.

Never heard of this brand so I checked to find it is a Best Buy label, so they shouldn't mess you about on your claim.

Edit: BTW, if it is the inverter, nothing you have done in normal operation of the TV would have caused that

Thank you very much. I thought that was the case, Could it have been that it was using 1080p When it it is not natively Supported?

If the TV wasn't Full 1080p the PS3 would have likely auto selected 1080i, but if 1080p worked then it must support it. Would have to check the manual or look up specs for the exact model number to be sure.

Highly unlikely the display resolution caused the fault.

I checked Everywhere about the model. It is 720p Could be that it has a default in the software that it can display 1080p But it will screw it up after a short while.

720p and 1080i would display correctly on that TV.

If you forced 1080p you would either get an unsupported format message or the picture would display messed up (possibly back and white and very grainy/distorted).

I think you were using 1080i but if you're sure it was indeed 1080p then I don't know what to tell you. lol

I'm 9001% Sure that it said that it was on 1080p I showed my dad and he said it was weird. Why would they say the TV can only use 720p If it has the ability to display 1080p and It even showed the message's
"HDMI 1
1080p"
"HDMI 2
1080p"
"Component
1080p"

That is strange. Especially since Component will not display 1080p. So why would it show the message "Component 1080p?

I know my Samsung plasma was advertised as 720p. But it will display 1080p with my PS3.

Yeah, I was misinformed on that. I guess component does support 1080p. Just my crappy Xfinity cable is only 1080i.
