Hello, I'm pretty damn new to the modding scene, but I don't really think I'm missing out on the PSN, which is what I'd be losing, I'm assuming.

I've downgraded my ps3 through a friend to 3.55 and I don't really have an issue modding it myself from that point.

What my issue is that there is so much information on running games and what to use and what firmware, I just would like some sort of clarification with this overwhelming information

I was downloading Tekken Tag Tournament 2, but it said
Requires: CFW 4.X

Now, I also saw a separate torrent that said
Tekken_Tag_Tournament_2_EBOOT_PATCH_READNFO-3.55-DUPLEX.rar

So I'm assuming that games come with patches that don't force me to upgrade to a higher CFW than 3.55?

Also, would I just edit the files on my pc or? I would just like a rundown of how to do it so that I can figure out the kinks myself when I run into it. Also if you wish to point me in the direction of a thread with this type of information please do so.

I would suggest you update to Rogero 4.30 v2.05 CFW. Then you will not have to worry about patching any games.
You simply put them in a folder named GAMES or GAMEZ, on your internal or external hard drive.
Then load them from multiMAN. I always keep a disc in the blu ray drive and load from the disc icon. Every game works without having to fix anything.

The most you might have to do is in the game settings in mm, click the external or internal, where the game is. And sometimes have bd mirror checked. On a rare occasion you may have to choose fix permissions in game settings.
But you would have to do all that on 3.55, and find the fixes for the games also. And some games are replacing some of the games files, like eboot, sprx, psarc, etc... or installing a package file, or both.
Never have to do none of that on the latest Rogero.

You can always go back to 3.55, if you want later. But I doubt you ever will.

Oh fantastic! So instead of updating to 3.55 cfw I can just go straight to the 4.3 from my stock 3.55 correct?

Yeah, it is recommended to toggle Qa Flag on.

If he is on OFW 3.55, then the console has been dehashed already. Who knows what was done while the friend downgraded it?

Navigate to Network Settings. Press L1,L2,L3,R1,R2, + down on the d-pad, all at the same time. 3 more options should appear below Network Settings, if Qa flag is enabled.
Edy Viewer, Debug Settings, and Install Packages.

If they do not appear, then do this to be safe:

1. Remove any disc that may be in the drive.
2. If you already have Install package files in the Game column of the XMB, skip step 3.
3. Install Kmeaw from XMB, System Update from Storage device.
4. Install toggle.qa.pkg from Install Package files.
5. Run Toggle Qa Flag app from the Game column of the XMB.
6. Your PS3 will go to a black screen, and you will here 3 beeps. Then it will reboot back to XMB.
7. Now go to Network Settings and do the button Combo I said above.
8. The 3 new options appear, and you know Qa flag is toggled on.
9. Now install Rogero 4.30 v2.05 from the XMB, System Update from Storage device.
10. Enjoy

If you have already updated to Rogero 4.30 v2.05. No big deal, it is O.k. that Qa flag was not toggled on.

Luckily I read this before I did it, so I toggled on the Qa flag before hand. Thing could be running smoother, but I think so far so good.

to answer the quenstion concret:

rogero says (v2.05 only!!)

This CFW does have LV1 checks disabled and can be installed on Downgraded PS3 consoles even if not dehashed after downgrade. Just in case anyone still need to dehash, here's the link Link ----> Dehashing Tutorial
