power brick help

well long story. my wife got an xbox from a friend at work for me to fix. said it had red ring. started out with 2 lights now it has 4 from what i'm told. i got it a few hours ago looked up some info and watched a youtube vid on taking it apart. cleaned it all out put new thermal paste on it checked some solder spots. got everything pluged back in and went to power on and nothing. the power brick stays red. if i unplug from wall and xbox and plug back into the wall it turns yellow and when i plug it into the xbox it truns back red. is the xbox jacked or the power brick took a crap? they said they haven't messed with it about 6 months. could the power supply fail on its own if left plugged in?

i clean off the old stuff already and put some as5 on there. one of the chips on there looked a little discolored, may have been the reflection of my wall. looked light it had a slight tanish tint to it after i cleaned it off. could that be a sign of overheating and failed graphics chip?

i gotta try to find another power supply for it. every one i know has the different style power supplys.

well i borrowed a heat gun from my work and thought i would give it a try. didn't work but while i had it and i got the xbox for free i figured id pull the chips off and see how hard it would be to reball it. wasn't hard getting the chips off but i think i should have shielded the other areas around it from the head. i think just about ever capacitor around the chips are domed out now . i think some1 stuck there finger in it before i got it because it looks like some1 tried doing it already and bridged some of the joints. thanks for the help and suggestions will post updates as i mess it up more
