4.21.2 and 4.30.1 are equal

You can choose between the two.

You can go from 4.21.1 to 4.21.2/4.30.1

once qa flagged u are qa flagged, just do the button combo on network settings to verify if settings are Rebug/Retail in toolbox, the toolbox reports "disabled" as it cannot run on 4.xx but again if u set it on 3.55 and not removed/reset it u are always qa flagged, and with that and putting "System update debug" ON in the debug settings(after using button combo) then put all latest rebug's and rogero on ur internal drive:

05\rebug430.pup

go up and down at anytime from internal hdd/xmb, only when downgrading back to 3.55 just disable the any spoofer before updating, this isn't required for the rebug_999 downgrade.pup, just go up and down and up without bricking

What's the point of updating to 4.30? Is it just to avoid patching files in MM? I don't see any new features, just removed ones

4.30 is without the dex features.
That's why it's called standard.
Dex doesn't work on converted consoles since 4.30(I think), it bricks them.

This is what i will do im on rebug 4.21.1 at the mo
1 rename pup to update.pup & put it in a folder ps3/update
2 put the folder on my ext harddrive and plug into the ps3
3 goto system update 0n xbm
4 select the update and install it
is this the correct way to go about installing rebug 4.30 std
have i missed anything out ? or is something wrong ?

I thought I read that someone upgraded straight from REX to 4.30.1 Standard. I've never done it QA flagged because it seemed confusing to me. I just go into service mode and downgrade back to OFW then upgrade to CFW. Always worked out safe for me. I now have one PS3 on 4.21.1 REX and the other on 4.30.1 Standard. I have to say I still prefer some of REX over Standard atm and the toolbox doesn't work in Standard; at least not fully.

The only issue I came across was with mMan crashing my PS3 each time (YLOD) I tried to update it or exit it. So I did what others here did and installed 4.17 and then updated to 4.17.05 and then up to latest. Works a-OK now. Only thing is the YLOD repair I did seems to have not worked for very long and now I have this again. Looks like only lead reball will fix this like with my other PS3.
