Hey all new to the site and just wondering ref downgrade?

Hi all. this is a great site been looking over it for the past few days. Now what I have been pondering about is......
I have had my PS3 Phat since forever. I jailbroke it myself many moons ago. All was working fine until I had an issue with the blue ray. So it got shelved for a bit now I came back to it like a twat thought that maybe upgrading it may fix it and make it all work again and guess what? I didn't (like I said what a twat) now I would like to have a go at downgrading it nothing to loose realy and take advantage of the 500gb drive that I put in it and put some games straight to that to play. But im confused what kit i need to get this job done. What I can tell you that its the CECHG model so if I read correctly Progskeet v1.0 or v1.1 is what I need am I right in thinking this. Is there anything else I will need. Or is there something else that I will need to do this job as well as the progskeet or is there something better that I can use. Solderless would be an easier option if possible but if solder it is then that is what I shall do. Thanx for reading and cant wait for some answers.

as far as i know, there's only one moon.

so only your laser is out? , else you would not be able to update the firmware.
you better find a service that can downgrade for you, instead of trying it yourself.

^ Assumes the chap is useless?

And by the sounds of it he jailbroke his PS3 many FULL moonS ago

OP, let me ask a question of you before you proceed: Are you OK to take your PS3 apart and maybe have to solder about 50 wires from a programmer to the PS3 motherboard and not do it in a manner that will perma-fuk things?

Also one of these programmers will cost from about £60 to £100. You will also need something to get the PS3 into FSM (Factory Service Mode) and this costs about a tenner.

So you need £££ and soldering skills (perhaps). You can get solderless clips but they are a bit hit and miss and will cost you more £££.

Hence you need: Time. Effort. Skills. And of course £££.

I have just recovered my PS3 from a similar position as yours. First time for me too. Took me A LOT OF EFFORT to do. I T W A S A B A S T A R D (for a LOT of reasons).

Got there though. Worth the effort and 'fun' - better than watching East Enders anyway.

Forum is here to help if you decide you have all of the above and wish to proceed.

Many thanx for this info. At the end of the day if I dont have a go it will only be good as a door stop. An if I have a go and screw it up at least I will still have my door stop.
