Flashing red light

Hello,

I was playing Crysis 2 until my PS3 phat suddenly shut down with 3 beeps and the red light started flashing.
I read through some fora and I came across a few possible causes like some service mode error and a corrupt file system, but also the YLOD..
Now I'm afraid of using my ps3.
Can anyone help me solve whatever is wrong with it?

Thanks.

can you still turn it on then? most ps3's will shut down after 2 seconds with the blinking red light. (YLOD)

since it's a fat ps3 and it did shutdown while playing a game it's probably due to overheating.

reballing is your only hope.

Alright.
I turned my ps3 on again and it worked for a while, but unfortunately YLOD just hit it.
Now since I'm kind of a hardware noob, do you think I should fix (reball) it myself or let a professional do it?
If the latter, do you know of any Dutch professional YLOD repair service?

i would not go that road myself, and you need equipment to do it also.
i reflowed my ps3 with a heatgun, but that's only a temp fix.

btw. are you dutch too then? , i found consolemax overhere that reball, but don't know if it's trusted.

Technically, no. I'm from Suriname :P
Consolemax eh.. Alright, I'll check it out.
So reflowing is a temp fix. Is reballing a permanent fix then?

look out for shady people that fix ylods with heat-guns
it's just extending the issue to a later point and could even wreck it beyond repair
get it properly re-balled and bring it to the business to see the station they use there (dus niet op marktplaats kijken)
