I have three ps3 slim with samsung kB .... of these I have always used this method
(100% working)If the first attempt failed to do correctly recognize the NOR disconnect usb to teensy and reconnect the power cable to reset the status leds (ps3off =red LED on) and then try again, after one or two tries you learn immediately give me time to upload the file and then send you the download link via pm ps: excuse my slowness but English is not my language EDIT:ok, pm sent, let me know ![]() ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* I forgot! VERY IMPORTANT! Before overwriting the NOR... do some dumps to verify that the teensy is properly installed, (if do valid dumps teensy installation is correct!) then type (norway.py COM (x) erasechip) to delete the entire NOR, then type (norway.py COM (x) writeword (yourdump) . bin to flash the NOR Last edited by DebugBrain; 01-17-2013 at 12:09 PM. |

I should probably note that when I do it wrong, it only displays as (0x90) and (0x909090), in opposition to (0xfd) and (0xfdfdfd). - Gadorach Last edited by Gadorach; 01-17-2013 at 12:14 PM. |

You must be very fast, keep the usb cable very close to the teensy,
press the power button and immediately connect the teensy, and immediately press old the power button again I assure you that it works perfectly, you only need to make sure that the teensy is installed properly and be quick trick in the ignition. I created a teensy external interface on all my three ps3 to use the teensy when I want, has worked always on all three ps3 Last edited by DebugBrain; 01-17-2013 at 03:37 PM. |

Difference is that he uses 5V, which I wouldn't recommend combined with Teensy being fed with 3.3V from the console. By doing this you put 5V USB straight to console's 3.3V rail, which is powered with 3.3V at the same time. Cant be good. And just to make this clear, this is not a Samsung QB issue, but a mobo issue. With most boards NORway writes Samsungs just fine. Just had a look at the images you've posted (w/ atx supply). Your wiring looks a little fishy. GND wires look fine, but the 3V wires bother me a little. Hard to recognize, but it looks like you feed 3V from atx to one of Teensy's volatge reg. pads and then another wire from Teensy's 3V (bridged) pad to the console. In other words you're routing the 2A current through a tiny board trace of Teensy. Can only result in a voltage drop (best case). Connect one 3V wire from atx directly to mobo and another one to Teensy. If atx is powered on you should measure the voltage on the mobo. Also I guess you didn't use a load resistor. Check the wiki link I've posted earlier. Also check Teensy's 5V pads (measure). Looks like there's a little bit of solder on it and bridging it. Back to CrackMyDay's method. I've never tested it before, but yesterday I did. Does not only work for Samsung QBs, but also for mine (Spansion P, JSD-001). Although I have to admit that I have absolutely no idea where the console gets its 3V from when disconnected from power. But I can flash fine with power cord removed and no voltage regulator installed (5V trace cut, 3V pads bridged, wire from Teensy's 3V pad to console's Vcc). This is what I do: 1. Power off console (unplug power cord) 2. Connect Teensy to USB (not yet recognized by PC) 3. Power on console (plug in power cord, push standby button) 4. Teensy is now recognized by PC 5a. (optional, I didn't do this) Press and hold standby button until console turns off (might take a while) 5b. Unplug power cord (Teensy is still recognized by PC) 6. "NORway.py COMx" returns mf and chip id 7. Dump/Flash/whatever Before or after step 6 you might want to measure voltage on the mobo. Should be >3V. -- judges |

Hello
@judges
, you're right, basically what I described is the method Crackmyday, I use this from July 2011, I always used only this, I understand that it may seem strange due to 5v power supply but it is the truth, the first time I did it by mistake, I forgot to make the short on the 3v pad instead of the 5v pad but since it worked I did not realize the error, I found out the error a long time after, so I continued to use that method.
on my teensy I installed a button to switch the 3v pad or 5v pad but the wire between vcc and teensy is always connected, I can use all the two methods, pressing that button the teensy works to 5v and I can program it ease on my pc Last edited by DebugBrain; 01-18-2013 at 08:27 AM. |

It was going [PSU @3.3v-14A] -> [3.3v pads on Teensy++] -> [TO-220 source pad] -> [Console VCC] as a path. I don't think the amperage would've dropped significantly from that, as the traces are large enough to carry at least 5A, and are right beside each other. I'm willing to try the other way as well, but it'll take a few minutes to set everything up. I hope I'm just doing it wrong, but only time will tell. If it really comes down to it, I could just solder directly to the NOR legs with short 30AWG Kynar, ~8cm should be fine, even for NOR. - Gadorach |
