reads blu ray discs but wont play them

I have a ps3 that will read discs at first. But if you try to play them games or movies it will make it maybe 5-30 seconds in and stops reading them. then if you eject it or try a different disc it won't recognize it at all. Does this sound like a bad laser or possibly the worm drive is messed up and not moving the laser?

Does this happen with all discs or just blurays?

Try out a music cd or dvd movie and if none of em work that means the drive is dead.

did you take your ps3 apart recently? LOL I took it apart and put it back together a while back and forgot to put one of the ribbons back. It didn't want to read my discs. Hell wouldn't want to eject them. I took it apart again and kicked myself lmao.

a few things i can suggest are it is a presence of dust in the console as it can be the cause of the blu ray lens malfunctioning, other repair alternatives

1. try turning your console off for a few minutes then turning it back on.

2.If you are still having the same problem you may check for any loose cables and make sure that they are plugged or connected properly.

3.The other option is to simply detach and place the hard drive back to the console. This will also require you to ensure that the hard drive is placed correctly.

4.You can also delete all the installed files and saved games as they may be causing the problem.

5.If none of the above-mentioned repair methods work then you may resort to sending your device to Sony for repair. If the device is still under warranty you can get free repair but you need to pay for the cost of shipping. If the warranty has expired already then you need to cover both the repair and shipping charges.

You can also take advantage of a do-it-yourself guide that can provide you with detailed pictures and instructions on how you can get rid of the problem and of other issues that your console is encountering.

if you need a link to self a repair guide let me know
