Ok. I just tried it on a CECH-2001A, that was on OFW 4.21.

When trying to install Rogero 4.30 v2.05 from the recovery menu, it just stays at "Checking... Please wait."
Never does anything after that.

I think I'll stick to what works for now. Until the new patcher comes out, I'll try that one.

maybe a stupid question..just checked the readme from rogero and does this CFW has BD checks removed??! it has no mention on this, only the other stuff...then that error is coming form the disconnected BD drive..just guessing here atleast the "checking" can be that problem..

Yes, Rogero 4.30 v2.05 has all the checks removed. That is why it is good for downgrading. I always downgrade straight to Rogero 4.30 in FSM with no BD attached.
If it didn't have the bd check removed, it wouldn't work in FSM install either. It is why you can't downgrade straight to REBUG in FSM.

I couldn't even enter FSM with three musketeers patches applied. I had to patch the original dump with Rogero's Nor Dump patcher v0.01, flash that, then FSM worked fine and installed Rogero 4.30 without the bd attached, like I always do.

That is why I was under the impression, that recovery menu way without FSM, was only for 3.56 based consoles. It is what it says in that thread I linked earlier.

yeah stupid Q...i always used the rogero 3.7 and not really busy doing any atm...thats weird then....the "checking loop" i know for sure can be from a disconnected bd drive but in this case should not apply...stick with what works indeed....

hey @playerkp420 ...while watching the oprah..and ur fellow US cycler i was getting bored cuse admit it we all knew this long ago...a normal guy can't win the tour like that hehe...anyways....this was still in my mind and i'm postive it is the disconnected BD drive
this way of downgrading is without FSM and installing via the Recovery...correct?

then its the problem cuse u cannot install firmwares without BD drive disconnected via recovery...correct me if wrong but i'm 99% that's the case here

@playerkp420 did you flash it in flash fun mode? i dont know if it can make a difference. anyway it worked for me. mine ps3 was cech 2001, too. although i have done only one ps3 in this way so it may have issues. i use your tut because it never failed on me even though with 3 musketieers patch the process is quicker

Flash fun mode should not matter. All that does is halt the Nor Flash, so you can keep the PS3 on for unbricking. Flashing with all switches down is the same. The first switch doesn't do anything, if you don't have a wire soldered from tristate to sbe.
Did you have the blu ray drive attached, when you did it?

Sorry if it seems like I hijacked your thread. But i want to try and confirm that this will work. So I can help you accomplish it.

But you have not answered the most important question. Do you have a valid dump?
And if you do think you have a valid dump, How did you get it validated?
