Is it YLOD? There could have been a short. Get A volt meter and check.

@wesinflater
, so your ps3 model is a CECH-25xx ?
what are the symptoms of the ps3, complete dead or what. i would check the ribbon cable to the power/eject board, some leads might be broken. some users succesfully trimmed it down a bit. |

also you forgot to mention if the ps3 was downgraded, and you could have tried to boot up the ps3 without the hdd. |

if you have the problem that when you start the ps3 it turns on but then shut down again, while all the lights go off (no standby led or blinking red light), then it's probably a short somewhere on the board.
we have an user that have a short on one of the usb port, the ps3 shows exactly the same symptoms. (no lights after starting) there is no reason to believe that you would have any short on the usb port unless it is starting to be a common problem for the 25xx series. usb port
you can measure it at any point you want, both sides of the board or in the usb port itself.
