If it gets too warm I get almost drunk feeling and nauseous.

The cooler weather is pleasurable for me. I love the tropical environments of places like Hawaii and the Dominican, Bahamas, but the warmth is not for me at all.

Northwestern Ontario

We are in the middle of a good dump right now. Gonna take a few pictures. I was out there shoveling the driveway for a good 3 hours.

By the time I finished my finished the first time (there was about a foot and a quarter covering the length, the driveway can fit 3 cars comfortably across and is about 50-75 feet in length), there was already enough on the ground to warrant a second sweep. It was constantly blowing back in my face and back onto the driveway. Managed to finish it off and it's pretty much ready to be done again.

The banks on the sides are about 4 and a half feet high now

EWWW!!!
LOL, after the red part, i cant read the rest without imagining you shovelling a great heap of sh*t >.<

figured I'd share this story with the snow thread as it's semi related.

We recently had a foot and a half of snow dropped on us over the just passed weekend. Temperatures had dropped to around -25C during that period and wind gusts were up to 37KM/h blowing the snow back in your face as you *try* to shovel it away.

Blasted my way through that. In the days after, the temperature had dropped to a numbing -30C and about -38C with windchill, but the days were sun filled.

The thermometer dips below -35C last night and dropped to -40C which is equal to -40F. Great time for a hot tub. Ears freeze, nose numbs body is hot.

Woke up to a phone call from the neighbours saying they had smelled a gas leak around the houses. Sure enough, the second you open the door your olefactory receptors are filled with natural gas. The stench was overwhelming, alarming but not so much that you would choke inhaling. There are no major gas lines around and no lines were ruptured; everything was normal (for a while).

Up in the morning, car doesn't start well.. Still -40C. Less gas smells. Make my way to work, days going along, call from the house that there's an electrical fire smell from the basement, and the furnace is conked. Fire department came and inspected the gas and furnace and found nothing but turned off the breaker in case.

We called up a furnace guy and he tells us that there was a small fire in the electrical box (at some point in time) that melted all of the wiring and arc'd several times. The fire had eventually extinguished itself but this had been happening over the last few years since the furnace had been installed.

Moral of the story.... anything can happen anywhere. Sometimes you may get away clean, but other times you may not. Just so happens that nothing happened to us this time.

Makes for an interesting day though.

-40 o_O

For someone living in a tropical/subtropical area, it is impossible to imagine the feeling of being in a place colder than a freezer and the effects of this low temperature on the surrounding environment. I know it must be hard to live with all that cold, but I envy those who have the opportunity to experience this kind of scenario
