Back ontopic, I don't think anyone can say what model is the worst or best. All of the consoles have their own issues. The first gen models overheated, the first nor based models (cechL) were shipped with a unreliable nor creating areas of bad flash leading to in repairable rsod, and now we have a wave of slim models that are blowning fuses or transistors leading to no power to the console whatsoever. Bottom line, with any console or electronics, you are gonna have failure rate. Some people get lucky and other don't. Just hope for the best and enjoy it while it lasts. Being worried about wether or not your console is going to die or it, well....it takes all the fun out of having one.
you serious ? 7 out of how many? and how does the rsod happen? Just by downgrading/flashing the system?

EDIT:

http://ps3devwiki.com/wiki/RSOD_Fix

You said its not fixable? I was just reading about it, and it seems to be under control now? I am extremely confused as of now

EDIT2:

Ok I understand now, if it happens and you "fix" it, it might come back which means its hardware related and noway of fixing it. ok I got it now.

@katsuru The rsod comes from a bad area of flash. This can be causedby a number of things. On a cechL model, it is more often than not a bad nor chip, which isn't fixable without replacing the nor itself, which is no easy feat. If you get rsod on any console you can try to fix it with the lvl2diag rsod fix they have out, which just summons the system to rewrite the area of the nor that is corrupt. Sometimes it fixes it for good, but if it is a bad sector of the nor, then it will come back. In that case, the fix may last for a hour or it may last a month, or it may not fix it at all. Oh, and 7 out of 7 chechL models have had rsod, but don't worry....they all had rsod when I bought them so it isn't like I had 7 console crap out to rsod. They where bought that way. Lol.

Oh I see, so you kinda played with fire there, acquiring an already RSODed model to try and fix it I believe ? ^^

Alright, I will make sure I will keep this in mind, thanks mate.

Another question ( and sorry for hijacking the thread ), besides the CECHLxx models, are there any other known models that often suffer from RSOD ?

So I think it is safe to say, that the NOR is faulty from factory and is a sleeping beast until we try to write on it and it "fails", and it has nothing todo with how many times one has flashed/does flash the console.

Ok this kinda helps me out, I just want to completely get a theory on why is CECHLxx such a RSOD hunger model
