So I wanted to see if I could update from XMW and there it does give the me option to update to ofw 3.55 from usb, I didn’t do it cause the tutorial said it should be done from recovery and I don’t want to experiment cause im new to this and it’s not my PS3. Suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Remove the dongle, and update to 3.55 from XMB should be fine.

IIRC its to do with a spoofed 3.41 MFW and you need to DG back to unspoofed 3.41 or something..... if I remember the thread I will post it....

From 3.41 updating to OFW 3.55 is no risk, and from 3.55 updating to Rogero 4.30 v2.05 is also no risk.

Thx for the reply. Im a bit confused thou, you first said i can update from XMB to OFW 3.55 then you say i should downgrade. So should I try to go for OFW 3.55 ---> Rogero 4.30 or downgrade first?

You can try update to 3.55 OFW from XMB, if it works: thats ace, if it doesn't: then lets try get @ortis123 to help? He knows quite a bit about this situation.

I read the thread and i tried to update from XMB. It went all the way to 100% but then i got the message "The data is corrupted (8002F169)" and im back to 3.41. I'm looking into a thread about DG to 3.41 now.

You need to install ofw 3.55 from recovery menu then install cfw 4.30 v2.05 from xmb

I don't know mate. I'm new to this and I shared all the information that i'we gathered so far . I'm reading as much as i can but i started just a couple of days ago. I have some sort of dongle but I don't know which (TB or something else) it doesn't say and my friend doesn't know either.

My, is it safe to update from CFW 3.55 to Rogero 4.30 v.2.05 via XMB? Some people advise to never update from XMB, while others seems indifferent
