Ok so i'm considering buying a 40Gb phat model on 3.55 ... only problem is it doesn't come with a blu-ray drive or logic board... From a little bit of reading it seems you can't play games without a logic board... so my question is can i just buy a logic board on ebay and marry it to the console? or is that not possible?

Are 3.55's becoming so rare that there is really a market for systems that have the logic board and blue ray drive removed??

How much did you pay, if you dont mind me asking.

I haven't bought it yet... i could possible get it for 75e - 150e.. depending on the sellers decision... what would be a good price?

and is it possible to fix so i can run games?

@Console_Wrecker I am guessing that 75e-150e is euros? Im too lazy to find the conversion to US so I dont know if its good or not, but I also do not know how much the replacement logic board and blue ray drive are or if you can simply pic up any old logic board and replace it. I would guess not. Probably needs to be flashed.

Is a blue ray drive necessary? Damn well thanks anyway.. i guess i'll have to do some digging and see if it's possible.

It is to help users with broken BD-ROM drives (which have a working logic board and married to the PS3)

Is necessary to run the dummy bd-rom on 4.21.2 rebug, so you can play games discless.

you can buy this ps3 and then look for a logic board (you can remarry it to the ps3 very easy) ,you realy dont need the whole bluray drive (only if you want to play games or watch movies directly from a disc)
some games need any blueray ps3 games inside the drive to run but this issue is bypassed (you can find tutorial here on how to play all games without a disc)
now i think ive said everything you need.
