I am bidding on a phat (CECH-G01) with rebug 3.55 cfw. But the blue ray drive does not read or play discs. Just want to be sure I can upgrade to newest rogero even though drive is broke. Thanks.

You can probably update, but most games wont work without a properly functional blue ray drive.

Thanks for the reply. What about running games from an internal and external? I already have an unjailbreakable slim with a working drive. This unit would be more for testing purposes. Also, isn't there a disc less solution that bypasses the need for a drive if on the right custom firmware.

He can update fine, Rogero has No-BD checks on.
And if he gets a newish drive that works he can just remarry it.

Not all dames work diskless. But if you get a 3K3y or Cobra ODE then no blueray drive would work fine.

On a side note, If it is an ODE then wouldn't homebrew work if there is no BD?
I'll have to check that when I get one.

Yeah update should not be the problem, but how will he be able to start ANY game without a working BR drive ? Don't games require a BR inside the drive to start?

MM Comes with BD Emu so most Diskless games and some disk games will work.

Yes. if the logic board works then just put it on a newish BD drive and you shouldn't have to remarry it.
