if you solder a wire like the example below (tristate to ground) the ps3 will stay on and you can flash your backup to the nor.......i think.

if you mean you soldered the wire as shown and it still shut off?

if that's the case then it's a hardware faillure, check the fuses on the mainboard.

EDIT: check this fuse.

12V on both sides? , the 12V will only come on for 2 seconds. (because of the ylod)

also if you set your meter to resistance (ohm) you should get a very low reading. (0-1 ohm, measured when the ps3 is removed from wall outlet)

you need to be sure that you soldered the tristate to ground right, because most ylod are from a bad flash (if a flasher is involved)

another image to verify the tristate point

btw, you mentioned for the led order : green, blue, red blinking led
how fast dous the console turn off, be more specific.

did the console not overheated while flashing?

did you removed the flasher to see if the console acts different?

eventually remove the bluray drive and or hdd for further checking

as said before soldering the tristate to ground should keep the ps3 on, unless you have a hardware issue.

btw, here's how you set your meter.
