Hell wtf happens with this people and those *cores* seriously.
Some games runs flawless on dual cores today.
8 cores?!?! = 1.6 gigahertz (GHz).

Hope they know what they are doing.

I think you need to look what the steam box actually is.... you say console, I say mini computer. Also the PS3 having so called Steam integration.... really because the only game I have ever played with a PS3 user on Steam has been portal 2.

Console.... the Steam box is a console.... so why dos it have a tond of PC hardware, PC specs, a $1000 price tag, and will run Linux natively as an OS (No I do not mean like PS3.) The Steam box is a small PC which runs a computer OS and runs Steam in Big Picture mode.

Funny how that is considered a PC yet the Steam box which is almost identical (in rumor) is now considered a console by your standards

Use WC custom made by you.
I7's here are too damn expensive and this one i will buy it on a near future. (when i have some money again lol).
With WC and some good rads or just cpu block, this little bulldozer becomes a killing machine. (also with a good mobo).

That clock speed sounds *weird* too *weird* to be true by the time the implement this Octo on *Durango* lifespan of the console will drop, no doubt about it.
I mean if they go = *More cores, more possitive results* i think something wrong there.

yeah intel is too expensive and that is the reason I went with AMD. I am probably going with watercooling but I did manage to push the quad core bulldozer to 4.8 stable and some what cool on a stock cooler lol. I cant wait until I get my 8 core piledriver and my 7970 in a couple of weeks

Clocks and cores will never change near as much as the technology in which they work with the rest of the hardware will. For instance, on a computer clocks and cores are only as good as the chipset on the motherboard. I have 775 asrock motherboard that has a core 2 duo processor that doesnt run near aswell when compared to it being put in my asus mobo. Thats because Asrock chipsets arent that good.

Proof of this is the fact that next gen clocks and cores are indeed slightly less than current. Do you really think that companies would release a next gen console that cant handle current gen graphics and beyond? What would be the point? May aswell stick to ps3 and 360 then. As technology grows they find better ways that make computers/consoles work with themselves that has nothing to do with clocks and cores.

You know what? Why do people b1tch that the xbox 360 is better than the ps3? Like why don't they just shut up and be happy with the systems out there for us to play? I own xbox 360 and ps3. I have to say the gaming is the same but splitscreen mode is better on xbox 360. The dashboard on xbox 360 is better than the ps3 setup. I do think it would be better if sony charged money for online. It would help make it better. But if they did charge many people wouldn't like it. So I guess it's better the way it is.

I played call of duty world at war on xbox 360 online. I saw that we had little g*y as$ b1tches using hacks to play. Now that was on xbox 360 and people pay money for online. So that shows it doesn't make a difference on which system will have hackers on. The wii is messed up with hackers. They been hacking on for awhile. I played call of duty Modern warfare 2 for ps3. And that game had hackers too. The people who hack in online games must have been abused by there parents. They feel it makes them the man to play unfair.

the steambox is a pc "consolized" (not that its a real word lol)
main aim to convert those like me who prefer consoles above pc gaming into the PC world due to its unified specs and optimized for trouble free gaming with a lazy chair and controller

its very clever and it may sway me away from consoles for the most part but it is still a PC, which is apparent from the price tag and the fact that it natively plays PC games and does not have its own specific format like all other consoles do.

the price would need to drop in a major way for me to buy though. i would pay a max of 500gbp remembering of course that if a 1000usd price is true then the uk will get it for around 1000gbp which is way too much. f**k the currency conversion from overseas to the UK. we always get shafted

In trying to find out what the Steam Box actually is, I remember this article:

http://www.gametrailers.com/side-mis...ke-should-care

and then I remember that all I got from it was:

"it allows you to play your existing Steam games without EVER having to deal with a keyboard or mouse. Because you can play Steam games right now with a controller, but to even open Steam and browse through your games list, you *have* to use a mouse & KB."

Did I get that right?
