You have to literally downgrade back to cobra 3.55 from whatever you're running in order to run the firmware updater to update the DONGle to v.6. Because if you just go ahead and install the CFW first, then try to make the dongle work, you'll find that it hangs on boot with the dongle inserted. (mmmm. boots. dongles. inserted. O HAI ROB HALFORD)

Anyway, once you downgrade back to cobra 3.55, run the Cobra Updater to flash the DONGle to v.6, then you can install the new CFW, realize it's a huge PoS, and remember that you have a PS2 that plays all those backups just wonderfully from the network share (not that it matters if you don't have a BC PS3 anyway), and a PSP running 6.60LE, and... so why do I need this crap?

My first reaction was/is to just put rebug back on, then I realized- my DONGle is basically bricked now. I'm almost 100% sure it can't be downgraded back to V.5, so it will never work with their 3.55 CFW again. Oh, did I mention, once it's upgraded to V.6, it hangs booting their 3.55.

Too sleepy now, but my PS3 is going back to rebug 4.30 asap. And I guess the snake dong is going in the trash.

@svenmullet that really is a POS, I guess Cobra stupidly presumed that every cobra user would stay on their 3.55 cfw for several years and wait for their 4.30 cfw, rather than switch to any other 4.30 cfw in the meantime.

Thanks for the heads up anyway, nice to know I can in fact revert it back to V.5 if I ever want to play with Cobra again (which I probably won't)

But seriously, WTF. Is. This. Other than not having to re-sign/patch newer games, this actually has *less* features than their 3.55CFW. Don't know if it can go on PSN or not, don't care.

Should I try Rogero 4.3X? Are there any pros/cons over Rebug?

Cobra Team would earn more and get more user-base if they just made their work public / free and accepted donations.

I own a Cobra dongle, but guess what?, my signature isn't changing anytime soon .

- I will keep playing my PS2 games / backups / ISO on my hacked PS2 (on PC soon, I need a new CPU).
- I will keep playing my PS1 games on PC (lol)
- I will keep playing my PSP games on my hacked PSP-1001
- I will play my PS3 games / backups on my PS3 with Rogero CFW 4.30 (or REBUG).
- I will keep watching movies in 720p / MKV / BluRay quality, so no need to make any BD-Movie ISOs.

No, thanks, just for ISO support and a few other features?, that was needed before, but now things like that should be free and open source.
