Hi everyone

I didn't keep up following the scene since early 2012 because I updated my PS3 (CECHP01) to a firmware higher than 3.55 and I stopped completely on 28/June/2012 because of my PS3 (CECHP01) being stolen (including my PS VITA)
But as of today January/22/2013 I want to start hacking again since I went through hell and back to get a CECHA01 PS3 and I want to hack it but Since i stopped following the scene i forgot most of the instructions and methods of the scene, I fear that if i try to hack a PS3 again i will fail, i remember that older PS3's had some kind of... NAND thingy that bricked like a hot-knife through butter so i need some updated knowledge on what has happened on the scene and what will i need to hack my CECHA01 PS3


Im also going to buy that new White Slim PS3 so that i don't miss out on PSN
and a PS VITA (preferably white)

PS: I'm not a n00b some of my achievements with the scene when i knew how to hack were:

1. I ACTUALLY streamed GTA EFLC & GTA IV on a FAT PSP
2. I was the first one to find out that you could install rebug and go on to the PROD-QA server and have your own PSN Dev-Heaven (IF you know what i mean)
3. I was THIS CLOSE to buying a DECR-1000A Dev-PS3 Machine

I am the only one that even now is able to:

Run PS2 games on any PS3 Model <- (This is actually quite easy to figure out)

yeah its called Cobra dongle pretty common knowledge

yet if its so easy then release to the forums so we can all enjoy, dont bogart like team cobra and deank. Be even bigger feat if you were able to get PSP backups running. If you did both you would have many fans and huge name in the forums.

That requires FSM, and or dongle. It also wont get backups running, which is what I thought OP was talking about :-P

Useless that link is to me though as my ps3 is BC, I'm just waiting for PSP backup loader on ps3. :-)

If the OP is claiming to get "PS2 games to run on any PS3" (note no mention of BACKUPS, just GAMES) and he recons ANY PS3, slim/superslim 3.60-4.31 OFW: then with or without a dongle I'm impressed....

.. wont hold my breath though.

CrashSerious releases an update to his FSM tool, FactoryServiceMode Tool v0.2 (current changelog below). With this application, Jailbroken PS3 Consoles no longer need the assistance of a JIG device in order to get into Factory/Service Mode. This means that one will be able to downgrade their consoles with ease, simply by running a PKG installed to their XMB. Also, this is another way to access and play around with Factory/Service mode. Again, this tool has been created using the open source PS1Light and 100% legal code.

Ofcourse FSM wont work on 4.xx FW yet, you would get trapped... (unless rogero's new CFW allows to get out of FSM with old 3.55 keys... but even then you are using a CFW PS3, "not any PS3"

Opencobra + operation mongoose (if it still exists @CrashSerious ?) + iris managers new found PS1 iso loading gives us great hope for the future of DRM'less dongle'less scum'less PS1/PS2/PSP loading

But the OP could just share his mythical method with us and it would be sorted right now since he is "the only one that even now is able to"

I remember reading something from 0xct0r about how he cracked cobra, said it was same protection as TB, the crack method of TB is all over the place. What's stopping anyone from getting a cobra dongle and doing what 0xct0r did ^_^

I would give it a shot if I had funds for a cobra
