you have to replace this update.img file with the one on your ps3
dont run this on your computer, your computer tries to mount this file, because IMG files are equivalent to ISO files, but this one is in a special gta game format, so its differently from standard img files, you can also open this with OpenIV if you like to add more mods, but anyway thats another story

i dont know how you like to run this game?
from the internal ps3 hdd?? or from an external hdd? or from disc?

Which is easier? So I just copy that file as it is and replace the exact file I have copied on the HDD? Do I delete the other file?

no method is more difficult than the other one, they are all the same... easy
i personally prefer to load my games from the internal hdd, i believe some games do not even load from an external hdd because you cannot copy files that are bigger then 4gb on an external hdd.

the method you choose will change the folder you have to replace the update.img file, im not 100% sure but when you load the game from disc or from external drive, you have to replace the update.img file either in the patches/install data folder which is: dev_hdd0/game/YOUR GTA GAME ID HERE or in the folder which your backup itself is: dev_hdd0/GAMES/
you have to try it for yourself, i cannot help you more here, because i use the method below

when you want to load the complete edition from the internal (like i do)
you need to follow this guide: http://www.ps3iso.com/ps3-tutorials/...-internal.html and you have to replace 2 more files,
for the modloader you now have to replace the update.img file in the dev_hdd0/G/E01128/USRDIR/update/ folder

EDIT: here is the complete edition internal fix reupped by me: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?m3b1553wz93c703

I guess I'm making it more difficult than it really is. I have the complete edition on my hdd. I am trying to follow the tutorial but I have no clue where the folder is with backups that is supposed to say games or gamez. I was able to do the "shadow for pkg game." 3. Now go into dev_hdd0/game and delete the folder BLES01128 that you just created (yes delete it)---This step I am totally lost. As far as the link you provided I will post a picture of how it looks to me. Maybe I should just give it up

thats probably right

I have the complete edition on my hdd.
and where is it? i mean the location, it should be either in dev_hdd0/GAMES or dev_hdd0/GAMEZ, on your ps3, like all your other games

you know that this folder is on your ps3 and not your pc??

EDIT: maybe you dont know what steps you do on the ps3, and which you do on your computer, is this the problem?
believe me its really easy

Yes I know the folder is in my ps3. I'm able to go in and see the games I've got copied to the HDD. I think my issue is the names of the programs and locations are throwing me off on my ps3.

That last picture I posted for you of the files, did they look right to you?

yeah the files look good to me, i dont see a problem about them?

EDIT: i hope you got the european gta iv complete edition, i dont know if this fix works with the us complete edition...

so lets start from the beginning...

you already have copied the complete edition from your computer to the ps3 internal hdd, so the game should be in dev_hdd0/GAMES or GAMEZ on your ps3 right?? so...

1. delete any install data or patches that belong to gta iv or eflc or the complete edition

2. start multiman on your ps3 and enter file explorer (press select+start at the same time),
navigate to the folder in which you store your backups (dev_hdd0/GAMES or GAMEZ) and inside the gta4 game folder look for the folder PS3_GAME and press O(Circle) and choose "shadow for PKG game " than press yes and wait until its finished

4. now navigate into dev_hdd0/game/ and delete the folder BLES01128 that you just created

5. than connect the ps3 via ftp with your computer and replace the COMP.BIN with the one that i gave you in the dev_hdd0/G/E01128/USRDIR folder, now navigate to your GAMES or GAMEZ directory (dev_hdd0/GAMES or GAMEZ) and replace the EBOOT.BIN inside the gta4 folder with the one that i gave you

6. now navigate into dev_hdd0/G/E01128/USRDIR/update/ and replace the update.img with the first file i gave you

7. finished should work now ^^
