PS3 semi-bricked during downgrade

Hi, I am new to the ps3 scene and need your help sorting thyis problem I hve. In attempting to downgrade my PS3 phat running Rogero CFW 4.30 v1.04 I installed the downgrader pup from the recovery (not XMB as instructed). This has left me at the "startup failed" screen trying to re-install the firmware, however, no firmware files tried so far are accepted. The system is asking that I insert a USB with firmware version 4.40 or higher to repair it.

This is what I have done so far in attempting to fix this:

1. I attempted to install the downgrader pup again through the start up screen and recovery. Both failed saying that the update data is corrupted.

2. I attempted to re-install OFW 3.55 and Rogero 3.55 v3.7 . It does not detect either of these.

3. Attempted to force a downgrade to OFW and Rogero 3.55 via FSM. The ps3 booted and shutdown automatically in less than 30 seconds.

I can enter and exit FSM using PSPjig and lv2Diag as the ps3 is stuck on the downgrader but so fr I cannot find a wy to access the XMB.

Is there anyway to revive this without purchasing a hardware flasher?
P.S. Thanks for taking the time to read this and any help is really appreciated.

If the ps3 turns off within 3 seconds, then you need a hardware flasher to un-brick it.

Just put rogero 3.55 v 3.7 onto a USB stick with the large lv2.diag service file. Once you kick the ps3 into service mode and it switches off put USB stick in far right USB port and switch on the console. It will take quite a while to complete so leave it to turn off itself. Once it switches off format usb stick and put small lv2.diag file on. Insert in right most USB port and switch on ps3 this will exit fsm but will format hdd

In FSM the game stays on for more than 3 seconds, there is a bit of activity on the flashdrive and HDD before it powers off. if i exit FSM it boots to the screen telling me to reload the firmware.

I tried that before but it did not work as the PS3 would not stay on... there had been some changes however. After reading a guide on downgrading using the E3 i got an idea.

what i have done is to retry the installation of the downgrader pup and then switch off the ps3 after if restarted to complete the installation. I then placed it FSM and that has stopped it from automatically powering off, it now boots to the "pree the PS button" screen and then displays a RSOD shortly after.

Are you kidding me here???? The ps3jig will turn on the ps3 and then switch it off automatically kicking it into fsm. When you put the large lv2.diag service file on the root of a usb along with said rogero pup also on the root of usb, that means no folders just on the root and start the ps3 you will see no video but the ps3 will write the pup to the ps3. once it turns off format the stick and put the smaller lv2.diag file onto the root of usb stick (no folders) and switch on the ps3. Let me know what happens.

asking for 4.40 is caused by the downgrader...how do they call them? hybrid/frankenstein firmwares? not important...and i could have dreamed it...

anyway..because u have tryed the "425to355.pup" this one gives the 4.40 screen and for Recovery instead of XMB-system update....not tested with this one but can verify 100% that this wont matter for the "REBUG 999 downgrader" thePS3 eats it like candy via Recovey to.....now for Rogero not to pull anything down...cuse he released always good pups e.g 355 series/the famous 3.7afixer(dex and stuf....) now for the 4.xx series i'm not really sure..then again others seem to run it perfectly fine!! but whenever tested this on my end..must say the4.21 ones it seems to have problems with HDD/ROS0/1 CORESOS corrupt errors, this could also coe in combination with an earlierMM build when it started to support it...e.g the "power down PS3 option in MM on 4.21 Rogero(the 50/50 bricker) after hitting that..the HDD yellow led went nuts and after the reboot..the PS3 worked but like an old granny...real slow..weird behaviour...nd ofcourse the HDD led was going crazy to.....that was back then but it happend..still have the dump of that NORflash/corrupt COREOS cuse the only way to fix was using a hardware flasher

BROKEN_COREOS-ROG109D-2504B-1A dump

Fixed_E3_Rogero3.7afterCFW421_109dCOREOSBRICK

bck to the problem....can u try REBUG's 999 downgrader to see if the PS3 takes it?

I am currently away from home and so i will try that and report back in about 2 hours when i get home.

edit: at home now. The ps3 seems to not recognise or acknowledge the existence of the files on the usb. it just boots straight to the first screen of the downgrader n then switches to a RSOD.
