but to get things straight, you don't get a standby led if you plug in the power cable?

you plug in the power cable and the ps3 starts by itself on high speed and shut down in about 10 sec. no beeps no light.?

somehow it's common for the 25xx series to shut down, without any light, but usually pressing the power button once or twice will bring the standby led back...

exacly, the high speed comes for +- 3 seconds not right now after connecting cabel. No beeps no light after shuting down, it looks like someone puts the cabel off from stick.

it is strange because (correct me if i'm wrong) the fan is starting after you insert the powercable.
in other words, you don't even press the power button on the front.
that's why i always think of the fan test.

but your console have another problem, it won't work without the power/eject board, else you could have removed that board to see what happens.

I just tested something for you on my slim, i opened it, removed the clamps from cpu gpu and turned it on, was ok 10 seconds, then the fan started acting like a private jet, boom shutdown no beeps no nothing.

Open your ps3, your cpu/gpu are not making any contact to the cooling system somehow.

thanks for testing, but what bothers me is that in the video it looks like the power button is never pressed, no green light either i think...

still waiting for a confirmation on this.

EDIT: there was a confirmation, my bad.

Thanks you guys for helping this way.

I removed the eject/power board few days ago, and it didn't start. And Mr. Dutch you're sure, I don't press the button, ps3 starts itself after connecting power cabel.

Katsuru, that what you've made for me means a lot, cause I get out from nl with my car, 22nd december it was cold -6 degree. The ps3 were behind the car with badge. Maybe the cooling paste is ****ed up? When I removed the motherboard I looked the gpu and cpu and the paste was a little bit... hmm... not like glue but more like stone, if you know what i mean.

Yes I know what you mean, here in NL/Ger at those temps the thermal paste will get screwed, will harden up, get yourself a new thermalpaste and redo the work, make sure your plates are tight enough so assure a better contact between cpu/gpu and cooler.

And yeah, you are welcome, I always use my Ps3 as lab rat, she kinda loves it I think ...
