Unhappy PS3 NAND Downgrade = Limited options?

Hello everyone,

I'm brand new here to the forums!

I recently bought a refurbished CECHA01 PS3, which I then immediately went to try to play a legal backup of Final Fantasy X (real disc freezes at unknown sea) and I then proceeded to after I encountered a huge brick wall O.O I can't play ISO files!!

So I was doing a little bit of reading looking for my available options, and I found that while there were many NOR flashing options available.. I was super excited, and I even discovered that someone on this forum lived really close to me! I thought the journey was over... buuut then another wall: I didn't know that my model wasn't a "NOR", but a "NAND" one and that he doesn't do progskeets!

>.< I'm unfortunate enough to only have 1-2 options:

Progskeet
Infectus Mod chip

Oh, and it says noobs aren't allowed to buy the Infectus Mod Chip. Guess that means only one option! D:

I guess my question(s) is(are)...
+ Progskeet is the ONLY real option to downgrading my ps3, right?
+ Is Progskeet really worth about $100 altogether (ouch lol) if I were to buy it and then try doing it by myself
ADAPTOR PCB PROGSKEET - $25
ProgSkeet v1.1 PCB - $45
JTAG programmer - $ 20.12
+ Are there available services in the USA (I live in Michigan) that will perform a NAND downgrade to OFW 3.55 for a reasonable price?

There's no way I'm about to open up my ps3 and try soldering/snapping stuff on when I've never done so in my entire life oO
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php...584#post387584
my eyes crossed just looking at the pictures for this foolproof guide, pretty sure I shouldn't be doing this myself

I am not willing to risk rendering my PS3 completely useless does anybody install progskeets around this part of town?

Maybe @Sarah1331 could help me out here :3

your goal is to install a CFW(custom firmware) which allows u to load homebrews like apps on a smartphone

and.. yeah there is i think currently no NAND-clip available
oh w8 i somewhere read @baileyscream has something like a NOR-NAND adpater or sth like that, but u have to solder anyways

you can also search for a downgrade service which costs ~50 bucks + shipping

also the progskeet isnt for noobs also teensy++... e3 is the only simple one wich requires only the skill to snap a clip onto the right chip...

You could buy
Progskeet 1.1
My adaptor board
NAND clip

Or

Progskeet 1.1
Adaptor board
NAND clip
Injectus

If you can solder you only need
Progskeet 1.1
My adaptor board

Or

Progskeet 1.2
My adaptor board
Injectus

If you buy progskeet 1.2 you will need injectus as there blank if you purchase my adaptor I can sell you an injectus for £7.50

nope not mine its @Sarah1331 that has created them and is selling them.

also the nands are a pain in the arse this is why its hard to find someone to do them.
I think sarah1331 likes doing them but he's in the uk
but still the cost of sending it to him plus the cost of the downgrade is still cheeper and more reliable then buying everything yourself and attempting it.

yea, that's what I figured... I like to try doing stuff myself, but to be realistic, that seems a bit out of my reach; I don't want to risk blowing up a $230 game console for a "learning experience"

Lol, it actually says it on the webpage here:
http://www.ozmodchips.com/infectus-2...hip-p-136.html

"Warning: No noobs are allowed to buy this modchip! The modchip comes blank, totally blank -- and it meant for modders, or people that like reading"

Me <--- total noob
I wouldn't mind paying someone to do it, lol I'm honestly looking into that option right now. I'd think that it would be cheaper sending it to @Sarah1331 instead of buying all the parts and then the headaches.. >.>
