You are lucky to get a game running natively in 720P. Uncharted is one of the few console games that run at 720P.

The internal resolution of most console games.

Call of Duty Black Ops for example, is running at 544P.
Red Dead Redemption runs at 640P.
GTA IV runs at 630P.
Bioshock runs at 680P.
Battlefield 3 runs at 1280x704 for crying out loud.
Crysis runs at 1024*720.

ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE SUB HD.

There is a difference when a game is upscaled, and its true internal resolution...

lol im not putting too much faith into this. sony is infamous for screwing up.. i liked the fat ps3 with bc. i was ok paying like 450 dollars for it. then they yanked a bunch o crap out. took away linux. started using cheaper plastic parts and lame lasers that die after a cpl years. they have proven to me on the phone and via email they dont care about your thoughts or oppinions. they dont even care if they rip ya off... like having a psp and a psp go and making you by the game even if you have the umd... or pay to get a game from psn you own the disk of just to save blu ray life. or using crappy thermal paste in the ps3. the new slim ps3 has just as many damn issues as the fat maybe even more. atleast the fat was simple to fix lol. point is sony does a half azzed job last well.. many years now. dont expect much in the future. it will look awesome. function great. cost ya 500 dollars. and break in a year n a half. simple as that. and my lord sony USE METAL IN YOUR DISC DRIVES NOT PLASTIC. damn... that one bugs me. lazy cheap jerks. and 1.6ghz seems kinda slow.. and i use kind of to be nice. is sony retarded? wait dont answer that lol

Not to dispute your overwhelming knowledge I thought 1080i was upscaled (interlaced) thus not realy hd as your source can be lower than 720p

There's a lot of confusion on hd and how to rip films in hd not a lot of people know a good way to rip 1080 and not lose quality

1080i and 720p are both HD, many consider 720 better because of the p, progressive is better than interlaced, so yes, regardless of i or p, 720p, 1080i and 1080 are all HD....

The scanning system: progressive scanning (p) or interlaced scanning (i). Progressive scanning (p) redraws an image frame (all of its lines) when refreshing each image, for example 720p/1080p. Interlaced scanning (i) draws the image field every other line or "odd numbered" lines during the first image refresh operation, and then draws the remaining "even numbered" lines during a second refreshing, for example 1080i. Interlaced scanning yields greater image resolution if subject is not moving, but loses up to half of the resolution and suffers "combing" artifacts when subject is moving.

1080i is an abbreviation referring to a combination of frame resolution and scan type, in the domains of high-definition television and high-definition video.
Only News Corporation and Disney owned channels use 720p as the preferred format for their networks. Many ABC affiliates owned by Hearst Television and Belo Corporation, along with some individual affiliates of those three networks, air their signals in 1080i and upscale network programming for master control and transmission purposes, as most syndicated programming and advertising is produced and distributed in 1080i and must be additionally downscaled to 720p.

1080i means the resolution of the screen is 1920 x 1080 vertical lines that are interlaced and scanned on to the screen. 1080i has more lines than 720p and therefore shows more detail. Because the signal is interlaced, it means fewer frames per second. Hence 1080i signal does not handle fast moving action as well as 720p or 1080p formats and is more suitable for slow moving programmes like documentaries and drama.

With 1080i you do get a bit more detail in the signal, but the interlaced image is not smooth as a progressively scanned one. Sometimes you will also see the 1080i resolution listed as 1080i/25. The 25 means that 25 complete frames are shown per second.

Most TV broadcasts are either in 720p or 1080i formats.

It looks like Sony is following Nintendo concerning processing power in the next gen console. After playing block op 2 on the Wii U, I can say there is nothing wrong with it. The game is up converted to 1080. I'd imagine that Sony is making a choice that involves money, the cheaper the price tag the better the sales. They could go with a better processor but that wont stop the whiners because there will always be something better.
