PS3 Phat no reaction after dismantling and put together again?
Hi All
What model number is your PS3? CECHC What firmware is your PS3 on? OFW 4.31 Is it a hardware problem? Most probably Is it a software problem? Don't think so If it is a software problem, have you made sure that you have downloaded the latest version of this software? - Are you running CFW? no What CFW are you running? - Is your console bricked? no If so, do you know why it's bricked? - Have you ever downgraded your console with hardware flashers? (Teensy, ProgSkeet, E3 Flasher, etc...) No Have you tried searching the forum for someone experiencing the same problem before posting? Yes Describe your problem: I bought a Progskeet 1.2 beginning of January and tried to Downgrade my CECHC (Euro) PS3, which however never really worked. I stopped at the step where you dump the NAND, as i always had troubles getting clean dumps (with the 360clip) So for the meantime i decided to put the PS3 back together and wait until there are more infos available on how to proceed with the Progskeet 1.2. Now the real issue starts here: After i put the PS3 back together and i plugged the Power on the rear, there was... absolutely nothing. What i mean is, that neither the red Standby LED is lit nor any reaction within the PS3 is seen/heard. I then tried to google some information and i just found the information that it might be the power supply, so i took my Multimeter and measured on the plug, which connects the Supply with the Mainboard (5-Pin connector) and i had 2x 5V and 2x Resistance, on the 5th pin i hear a noise from within the Power Supply which is like a "click" that lasts as long as i have the Multimeter connected to that Pin. Now i tried to dismantle and rebuild it like 3 times but i'm unable to get it to work properly again. Does anyone have any clue where i should search for the problem? I hear that it's possible to measure some points on the Mainboard to check if some resistors are broken, but i didn't find any specific information on the points, etc. The Mainboard is a COK-002 with Samsung NANDs. The only things i did while it was dismantled was to read the NAND chips with the 360clip, remove the Dust from it (since i bought it used) and renew the thermal compound. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Map |

@Mapinski
, did you examined your ribbon cable from mainboard to the power/eject board?
did you tried to start the ps3 by inserting a disc (if drive is empty) or by the controller (if synced) on the power/eject board the most left pin from the connector should read +5V , if you measure that then you know that at least power is reaching the board.

@Mr.Dutch
Thanks, good input already ![]() I quickly checked all 10 Pins on the Eject/Power board: The 3. from the right reads 1.6V The 4. & 5. Pins read 3.3V The 6. Pin makes a 3tiems "Beep" sound (BD Drive empty) The 7th Pin reads 1.25V The 8th Pin reads 3.3V Pins 9 & 10 do not have any power. After hearing the 3times "Beep" i inserted a Game into the BD Drive and all of a sudden the PS3 started O-o So now the question is what's wrong then with the Eject board? Could it be that the connecting Cable is somewhat damaged? |

@Mapinski
, since you are good at measuring here's the complete pinout.
this is the connector on the mainboard , pin 1 -10 is from left to right. if you don't measure 5V on pin 1, then it's logical nothing reacts, even the leds use driver transistors that are connected to the 5V. did you looked if the ribbon was damaged at the ends? , or measure each contact for resistance.

@Mr.Dutch
Thanks, it seems like my Ribbon is somewhat through. I pulled it out again and had a closer look at it. I now remember that i made a mistake a while ago when i was putting it together for the first time, i Didn't remove that ribbon cable from the Mainboard when dismantling, and when i mounted the cover for the Mainboard back on (the silver cover which contains 10 screws) it was below that cover. So i pulled that cable back by pulling on the blue plastic thigny on the cable and i teared that off. Now i had another look at the cable and i saw, that 1 end had like a crack on the golden connectors (the side which is put on the mainboard, not the end which is mounted on the eject board), so i guess the Cable is gone. Now after reinstalling it i don't get any values anymore when measuring. Any Links where i can order such a cable? I guess it's close to impossible to find such a store in Switzerland, so any European store would work, i'll compare the shipping costs if there are several adresses. Regards Map |

I'll try to get teh cable to work again, i now tried to run the PS3 again but now i can't seem to start it anymore, by neither PS Button on the Controller not inserting a Game into the BD Drive. I guess the cable does still have a function which is required, even though it's not completely working.
Anyway i'll search a bit to try to find a store selling this cable |

Thanks Mr.Dutch, you're right, it's working if powered on via PS Button on the Controller again
![]() I now ordered a new cable via Amazon. Was a bit expensive (6.98€ for a cable) but it only adds 2.99€ shipment costs to Switzerland, if i would be ordering from that shop directly the cable would only be 2.99€, but it'd add 32€ shipment costs O-o |
