i just did a cechg01 model fat ps3. same issue disc went in and out no issues but didnt load or spin. had a kes-400a laser. i replaced the laser and it now works 100%

it wont spin because it doesnt spin untill the laser kicks in and needs to read the disc. no laser = no reason to spin. the scratch or small click you hear is just the laser attempting to shift to start reading the disc then failing. its at that point when it fails to read the disc knows not to spin. you can get it to turn really really slowly with the drive fully disassembled but thats complex and wont help you for anything but testing the motor. which i know it isnt lol. and even if it was the motor comes with the laser as long as you get the assembly not just a laser. however i KNOW its not the motor. its the laser.

yeah i acctually have 7 psn games installed on it and they work fine

because i want to knwo if my ps3 can read this ode then there is no point of fixing it because when i buy this ode i will be able to run games without discs

in theory it should as the key exchange should come from the logic board more then the blu ray drive itself. unless the dongle requires you to have a disc in the drive. then it wont work. but like i said you can just replace the laser and it will work with discs again lol. and i dunno how much the cobra is?? but an e3 or progskeet is 60 to 80 bux and allows you to downgrade and use custom firmware. you can play iso files and stuff from cfw too. and use an emulator to make it work with no blu ray drive for many games if you are cheap and dont wanna spend the extra 30 for the laser lol. you are welcome btw. like i said i had the exact same issue. and infact have one sitting open infront of me because the laser died. i replaced the laser and it works but i broke a blu ray switch. so be careful lol stuff in there is small and fragile.

yeah let me know. just change the laser and you will have a fully functional ps3. ( as long as ya line the drive arms up) which you wont the first try and your drive will take the disc in and play but not spit it out unless u lift the magnet off the top. when it does that its cause you didnt line it up right :P
