PS3 displaying blue tinge

Hi all,

Some experts on all things ps3 may be able to help me. I suspect my ps3 is slowly dieing or I have a bad connection (GPU maybe?)

When first powered on, ps3 works perfectly and no problems whatsoever. After an hour or so all graphics have a blue tinge to them. I've swapped the hdmi cable which hasn't made a difference.

I dont have any pictures just yet as the wife is watching tele but thought I'd get some ideas flowing before I post them up. I would be willing to open the ps3 and have a look if anyone know what I should be looking for?

Thanks all.

yes this is the process of a GLOD starting. you can do a temp fix to get data transferred, but unless you have someone that can reball the gpu then its a dead one. here is my temp fix tutorial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PL...yer_detailpage

@alchybear666 thanks dude, I've attached some photos which I've taken this evening. You'll notice the blue banding on both of them. If I jiggle the cables at the back sometimes it goes away.

I have a phat ps3 i can transfer everything too, but just want to make certain before i get rid of my slim.

you can transfer any thing between phats and slims, but if the files installed are for 3.55, they will only work for 3.55 consoles. wait is it freezing? could be the hdmi port it self is damaged on your tv or your ps3. I thought i read it froze up. hdmi ports on ps3 can be damaged and go out on slims easy for some reason. if you know how to de-solder it i sell replacement ports on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271143806615...84.m1555.l2649

and here would be a idea i made in video on how to remove it. how to remove avi and hdmi from ps3 to replace - YouTube

if it does freeze up and stop working then it is the gpu.

@alchybear666 It doesn't freeze so hopefully its the hdmi port. I suppose to make certain if I use an analog cable and it doesn't turn blue then it's pretty much the hdmi port?
