E3 Flasher: Information stored on OB Flash
Hello everyone
I have a couple of questions and I'd appreciate a clear answer ![]() 1: Can someone tell me what exactly is stored on the OB flash? 2: what happens when I backup the PS3 NOR to the OB NOR? (i.e. 001100) I'm asking this because if there's no problem writing the OB flash, I'd like to utilize it for a faster half dual boot (no need to replace SD card using PC) so that I can back up CFW on OB and OFW on SD. I'm guessing that the update.bin data is stored on the OB flash but I'm not sure if writing it would prevent the e3 flasher from functioning since if you write it, you still can update it again right? Thanks! EDIT: one more thing, what's the maximum size micro SD the E3 flasher can take? Last edited by 6ar; 01-28-2013 at 09:50 PM. Reason: Added question |

Thanks for answering. I know you can even use a 4gb micro as I do. I'm asking because I'm planning to get the largest size possible since there's a trivial difference in prices.

No problem. Don't get anything higher than 1 GB.

Thanks.
What I'm actually interested in is the other questions. The sd card is an easy matter

Yes,
@geeklogik
is correct. It is just a Nor chip. Right now it is blank.
You can do exactly what you are saying, to Half dual boot. Have CFW flash on OB Flash. and have OFW flash on your SD card. Then when you want to change, flash to the PS3's nor chip from either the SD card or the OB flash. Turn off PS3 and put the correct HDD in. Then turn it on.

I like to use dual boot but the fast dual boot is an overkill for me (I don't change back and forth that much, plus I don't want to cut the power line A/B point) and replacing the SD card data is what takes the most time
