the clip shouldnt really be used for dual boot as it comes loose to easly
Bailey! Thanks for the reply. Now that i finally got the clip working i can't go back to the E3 Linker. I've taken measure to ensure that the solder points on the E3 ribbon won't come loose. At any rate. I will follow your tut from beginning to end. I believe my error came in starting with Update E3 Flashers firmware.

take your time with it
solder the sbe point. it is a life saver esp when the dual boot is a pain to get working first time.

Hi, i don't know it it is the right thread (the title say downgrade but you also talk of dual booting )

I've a problem: i don't understand how the E3 dual boot works!
I read bailey's post but i still have lot of questions..

Do i need to save on the e3 onboard flash BOTH ofw\cfw or just one? I don't see where you say to save a OFW backup
Second question: i understood that i've to start from the last ofw, perform a downgrade, create the cfw on the onboard flash.. and then?
I've no idea of what i should do to say "load cfw" or "load ofw", do i have to flash the 2 (i think they're two) e3 onboard backup on the ps3? how do i do that? what are the switch combos to say "flash the first onboard backup instead the microsd one" or "flash the second onboard backup instead the microsd one"???

Thank you very much for your time

Bailey... So I soldered both connections (SBE and SBCE on the E3 Clip to their respective points on my DYN-001 MOBO) and severed the A&B. After doing so i followed your tut and downgraded my PS3 to 3.55CFW > then dehashed using QA menthod > installed 3.55OFW > then installed 3.55CFW Rogero (one provided in the FSM downgrade).

Here is the part where I am getting stuck. I am now on Rogero 3.55cfw (used the PS3UPDATE.PUP that is in the FSM folder. Added it to a USB stick while on 3.55OFW and updated). The next step in your tut I am to "go into the E3 Flasher programs folder then files for dual booting folder and then 2012.01.05 update and drag & drop the update.bin (this is the dual boot one) file to the micro sd." I did that and the UPDATE to the E3 took. All the lights turned BLUE. I waited an addtional 15 seconds and press the RESET button underneath the ESATA cable. I also checked the TF it was blank. So far so good...

Next (and this is where i am stuck) in your INSTALL CFW TO THE E3 FLASHER NOR CHIP. I set the switches as
1 down / 2 UP / 3 down / 4 UP/ 5 down / 6 down and power on the PS3. However when I power on the PS3, the E3 Flasher turns on, I can hear the HDD spin up, but within 5 seconds the PS3 shuts down, beeping 3 times quickly and i get a RED blinking light (blinking in 1 second intervals).

What did I do wrong and how should I proceed? Thanks in advance. (on a side note i've tried everything and many other tutorials. However at this step after downgrading whenever i flip the CFW up i get a blinking RED light.)

oh no .... no no i didnt put the de-hash step in there did i?
oh ....... i have checked the guides over and over and over and i still put the de-hash in....

that shouldnt be there

oh i am so sorry i dont know why i missed that being in the dual boot part.

ok put flash fun switch up and switch 6 up (all the rest down) and flash your origional dump back.
then turn off ps3 put flash fun switch down and turn on ps3

it should boot. (you need the ofw hdd in)

now follow the guide again from after the verify step.

i have removed the de-hash step from the dual boot guide. i still dont know how i didnt spot i left that in there.

Bailey.. thanks for the reply. Before I try that i have some questions i'd like to ask. with my CFWHDD in and all the switches down i am able to boot into my dehashed 3.55cfw. it's only when i flip the switch on the E3 flasher 2/up for CFW that i get the blinking red light. How would Fun Flash help me here? Should I instead Fun Flash the with the CFW (2nd) switch UP?

Or is it because i dehashed and installed 3.55cfw > turned off PS3 > flipped CFW switch up > that i got the RLOD? thanks in advance..

the cfw ends up on the E3 nor and ofw is put back on the ps3's nor
you then use 1 switch to select which nor is used (only one is powered up when the console is turned on)

but go re-read the guide a few times and see if you can get your head around it before you start.
and keep asking questions.
thats the best way to learn

oh right i didnt think any booted.

ok you need to put the switch to ofw then flashfun up (so it will halt and not red light) then last switch up
put the origional dump and the e3 patch file on the sd card
click start
this should put the 3.55 patches on the ofw nor
once done put flash fun down and boot to the ofw
it will be at the conect controller screen
put ofw on a usb stick and re-install it
this should now undo the de-hashing

you should now be able to dual boot.

So is it the De-hashing that is causing the problem here?

I am just going to start over from the beginning and skip the dehash part.

Also at which point do I insert the 2nd HDD? Being that i am going to do the following

1: insert HDD1 and downgrade it add CFW3.55 (no dehash)
2: Flip the CFW switch up and see if it will allow me to copy the bios over without RLOD.
