Hi, i have OFW 4.3.1
Sorry I'm a little lost. Here you stated that it's down-gradable for OFW "4.31" (typo?)
And Since method one states "4.30" or lower.

I want to clarify, are all the methods only for OFW 4.30 and lower?

Hello all,

I have a question about "the time" needed to flash using the method described in this thread. I have downgraded a few PS3 using the "e3_downgrade.bin" method, which takes about 12 to 15 minutes max to write the NOR (2 minutes to read)

How long does usually take the "write patched NOR" method ? (And is it safer than the e3_downgrade.bin method ?)

And also, one last question, what's the difference between "PS3 MODE" and "FLASH FUN" in the NOR writing operation ?
I have searched for the answer all over the interweb and I can't read anything besides that the Flash Fun mode requiers to solder the tristate for debricking. And I have also read that you can use Flash Fun without soldering the tristate point, so i'm lost.

I think it takes about the same time to flash. You are just flashing the chip, either way you do it.
I think it takes about 10 min.

To use flash fun mode, you need a wire soldered from sbe to nor tristate. Then when you have it switched to flash fun, it will halt the nor.
If you don't have the wire soldered, the first switch does nothing. It is the same to flash with all switches down.

Alright, so being an idiot, I read all the instructions and all went as planned... except I missed this bit "METHOD 1 - Fastest - No FSM dongle needed - Will only work if on OFW 4.30 or lower"

Oops, I'm on 4.3.1. So now I'm at the connect controller screen, and of course it says "No applicable update data was found"

Where can I go from here?

EDIT: Thanks for this guide btw, it's been amazingly helpful so far, moreso than anything else I've seen.

DOUBLE EDIT: Could I potentially substitute the Rogero 4.3.0 v 2.05 with TEAM SGK CFW 4.31 v5?

Hi, I've followed this guide to the dot on my fat CECHL, but after fsm, when I put the fat32 usb in to install the lv2diag and ps3updat.pup, the console shuts off after 5 seconds, no yellow flashing. What am I doing wrong?

You can just follow METHOD 2. Patch your original dump with the patcher in method 2, and flash that to the nor. Then continue with the guide.

Team SGK CFW 4.31 is actually 4.30 spoofed.

There is a new 4.31 CFW I was going to try METHOD 1 with. Not sure if it will work.

The worst that would happen is it won't take the update.
If you do try it, let me know if it worked. Make sure you have the blu ray drive connected when trying to install it.

Thank you, changing the USB solved the problem. It's odd, because the last ps3 I did worked with that USB, this console did not.
