When I did it, all I hear was like a little click.

first make sure its the right laser. if its the same model check all cables carefully. theres a few that attatch to the blu ray board. they need to all be connected properly.

All CECHG models have the same drive. Just some have a different logic board.

So do I need to use the logic board that came with this PS3 on it? Also, I guess I'll be needing a new little black/red cord. What should I search on eBay for it?

You should keep the same logic board it had. It should already be married.

Here is that sensor. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40

thats complicated but yes. try the logic board that came with the ps3 as the drives are identical. shouldnt have an issue? unless the board is married to the drive not just the console. but i dont see any flash memory inside the drive. even if it was you would just remarry. ive got one open looking at it now. cechg01. kes-400a laser. im running the system with the board only no drive for my netflix n dc universe. start simple just try the board that came with the ps3 and see if it works. since thats easiest

I just tried running the board. Blue light came on with it. I couldn't run any packages though?

isnt it the board that came with the ps3? disconnect the drive and connect only the board then try to run something

if it still wont work with just the board connected then theres an issue with the board. im using my cechg01 model right now with no drive just the board and playing black ops 1.
